mp3 help

wassup guys,

just bought a 1990 240 hatch/fastback, and first thing i wanna work on is the sound system since it comes with that horrible stock radio/cassette crap...i want to get a mp3 player, but i never really had any experience with car mp3 players, i heard that it lags really bad, up to 8 seconds to scan EACH TRACK, i also want to setup up 2 12" or 10"s with a good amp, rockford fosgate compacitators maybe? help me, any input is greatly appreciated

I have a kenwood KDC-mp225 mp3 player and I think its awesome. I've never noticed lag between songs, when I first put the disc in it takes a few seconds to scan over the whole thing but after that it plays fine, and the price was great on it

Lag between songs? HA!

Got my self Pioneer 4600mp and it rocks. It takes a second or so to scan the CD and then plays it well, no skipping no lagging.

i don't know about those .... i wonder if you went to mickey shorre for that information (local - michigan - car audio)

i was told by a salesman that the sonys were the best out there with no lag, and alpines sucked and there was a ton of lag, but my alpine cda-9815 plays mp3s just fine.

i don't see lag being an issue anymore, they should have that taken care of by now (since mp3 players have been out for a while)

Pioneer DEH-7500MP here... mp3 rocks man - you can fit like 12-15 albums on a single disc (depending on rate)... Arctic got a new Pioneer mp3 head unit for $150, and it's much better than those add-on mp3 players (another part to loose or deal with)... I agree with the above - drop like $150 for a decent mp3 cd receiver and lets the music play baby

hell yeah, I got a Premier/Pioneer DEH-460MP MP3 player and it just scans it and then plays lag free. It's a really good player. Nothing like having MP3 blasting through your stereo for hours on end and not having to switch CDs.

my buddy has this iPod cigarette lighter cradle which transmits via FM frequency....all ya gotta do is stick the cradle into your cigarette lighter, turn your radio onto the required radio station..and bam! your mp3s are playing...

i was going to mention the ipod and someone beat me to it... it has very little lag... the only thing that sux is that when you use an fm modulated signal it looses a lot of sound quality... if you are a freak about that stuff you should go with an indas mp3 player... if you dont mind about it then the pod kicks ***...after all BMW is setting up their cars to integrate with the ipod
