Just thought I'd share a similar setup.

Only thing is, I'm running a full AMD 1.83Ghz pc.. a "carputer"
Built it all myself, all small form factor, microATX etc. Very small pc sitting in the hatch. Total cost (uncluding sub, 4 new speakers and two amps) was around $1,000.

BTW it's a touch screen.

I just wish I took an extra second when I was mounting the screen to realize I didn't need to trim my bezel thingy like I did, looks like crap now (I did it in a hurry) and hope to find a replacement one asap.

edit: I changed the pics to be links, didn't realize they were so huge.
i'm in love!!!!!!! i must see more pics of that.. send pics of the computer in the hatch.. I really must see and my question is how are u getting on the interent while driving around? holy **** dude.. i'm in love. post more pics..

Hahaha. Well..
Right now the computer is just sitting in the hatch with my sub and amps. I'm in the process of desiging a custom enclosure for my sub (and adding a second) so I can mount everything up nice and clean like. If I showed you a pic now, it would just be a huge mess of wires and equipment. Nothing too impressive.

As for the cd/dvd burner location.. Well, I thought I had a great idea on where to mount it yesterday.. Even cut a hole in my center console/armrest thingy.. to find out that the spot was too shallow and it wouldn't fit.. D'oh! So now I have a hole in my console so I gotta buy a new on, and still find another mounting location. I have however cleaned up all the wiring in front of the back sear, it's all 95% hidden now except for the cd/dvd usb cable cuz I have that just sitting on top of my arm rest for now.

Oh yeah, I don't use the net while driving. I just find a hot spot like Panera Bread or my driveway or friends driveways etc.

Um, if I took a long trip somewhere I'd just find hot spots if I needed to get on the net. I don't think I need my AOL Instant Messenger that badly ;-)
Well, I get it on my cell phone anyway!
Tons of hotels have free wifi and stuff, just fire up netstumber and find a connection.
I'm hoping within the next month I'll have everything cleaned up and mounted. We'll see, I need to come up with a few $100 to finish up.

The dvd drive uses a ps2 cable to snag it's power from, so I already ran a ps2 extension cable to the front, and the dvd drive cable lets you piggy back so I just plug in a keyboard there if I need one. I generally just keep it in the back seat.

Bad news today though
The project is on hold.. Put a hole in my oil pan tonight I think. Wont know for sure until morning but a slight ticking sound turned into a knocking sound tonight.. then a snap/bang and a big pool of oil. Hadta tow the car home.

Excellent setup TiggsCRX. I am also into computers and all but seeing how my neighborhood is, i doubt it'll be safe to put one. If u could get it to sit flush with the trim that would even better, just a suggestion. But excellent job. Love to see more pics or your subs and new updates.

Yeah I cut the trim not realizing I didn't need to.. d'oh..
And the latest update..
I'm extremely sad to say
I have to sell it.. It's either sell it and replace my engine, or keep it and be without a car for over a month. If anyone knows anyone interested, I'm asking aroun $800 for the pc setup (no audio). Everything is there to get you setup except for audio stuff. That includes the pc, touch screen, dvd drive, 120gb hdd.. I figured out I paid over $1,000 for this BEFORE the cost of the audio stuff.
