Quick release steering wheels

i dunno jack about quick release steering wheels...but i do know that i want one for security reasons and b/c they look cool. and btw the previous owner of my car took out the cruise control so i'm not worrying about rewiring cruise control buttons. are ther any walk-in shops near san diego where i can get one? what components do i need? i want a budget wheel.

Your going to need an aftermarket steering wheel hub, the quick release, and an aftermarket steering wheel

yep, depending on what type of stuff you get it can be done fairly cheap or be pretty expensive.

Also most quick releases and aftermarket steering wheels come with all the hardware you need to install. when you choose a QR make sure you know that certain QR's push your steering wheel up to 2" closer to your body - not exactly for everone, especially if you like signalling without taking your hand off the steering wheel.

Figure to spend about $80 for an all cheapo setup

QR's are homo IMO because you really dont NEED one so much as other security items... but if someone was really determined to steal yor car... he could find a way. Do what you want though, dont let me talk you out of it, just giving my 2 pennies.

steal my car and try to drive away with it without my steering wheel. I'll steal yours and we'll see who gets farther

I have a quick release and if someone tried to steal my car, they won't get very far unless they have a tow truck...

ok, I've never had any experience with quick release hubs. I always associated them to race car applications where it was difficult to get in and out of cars. Never really thought about any anti-theft uses of it. With that said, I have a few questions...

1. Does anyone know if there's a quick release adaptor for a S15 steerijng wheel. And uh... can you adapt the S15 airbag to work in a zenki? Or if there are any aftermarket steering wheels that are airbag compliant? (I don't know if I want to actually get rid of the whole airbag thing seeing as it's illegal )

2. Uh... what do you guys that have qr wheels usually do when you park the car? seems kinda silly to pull it off everytime and carry a steering wheel with you everywhere you go, but then again it doesn't seem all that safe if you put it in the trunk...

1. Quick releases are made for aftermarket steering wheels, while the s15 wheel didn't come with your car, it still OEM off of another car. For the airbag question are you looking for an aftermarket wheel with airbag or are you asking about taking out the drivers bag and keeping the passenger?

2. When I go places I usually keep it hooked up, I'm not gonna walk around the store with my steering wheel in hand...I usually only take it off when I am at home or somewhere like a friends house where I am going to be away from my car for awhile
