Radio Wiring harness wire color chart...
I pulled my radio out and got the aftermarket wire colors to the stock wire colors.
maybe sticky??? Could help many people out with cut oem wire harness!!!
This information is from a 1991 240sx Hatchback
NOTES:
* When black wire is not present, just bolt wire down to the vehicle chasis.
** The stock harness (on mine) has no wire in it.
*** No connection for the aftermarket harness (once again, one mine)
**** No connection wire (once again, on my aftermarket harness)
The aftermarket harness I used, I bought from Circuit City, and it is a "Smart Cables" brand made by Metra Electronics Corp.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good luck everyone, who needs this information. It took me awhile to do the wire-to-wire comparsion, and even longer to type it up and get all lines straight!!!

You use this information AT YOUR OWN RISK. I will NOT be held responisble for miss wiring, that may cause damage to the HeadUnit, Speakers, subs, amps, or the wiring harness. I double checked my wiring comparsions, and I believe that I am 100% correct that my wiring comparsions is correct.

well...
I have the aftermarket wiring harness connected to the stock harness, I traced each wire from the aftermarket to the oem harness.
On the aftermarket harness package it shows each and every wire, and what it is supposed to be.
It took me around an hour to do it, and I double checked it that night, and checked it again today.

Your info is, somewhat, wrong. I don't know why this always pops up on this board. I posted this info YEARS ago yet I see reposted wrong so much.... and every time nobody has the ground wire listed.

No, I mean on the car side. You don't need to ground to chassis. You can ground your headunit to the red/yellow wire. It's just like stock, the factory unit doesn't ground through it's mounts. I've done it this way in 2 90's, an '89, and a '92.

blue with white stripe
look at my first post, and there will show
blue is pwr ant. --- solid blue
blue is amp turnon --- blue/white stripe
the yelow on is constant power. it shouldn't be losing power like that, make sure you don't have a short somewhere.
it took me a few minutes to find the white stripes

the easiest way is to go to the antenna, and try to follow the wire from there, to the headunit. Its not the easiest thing to do, but I have done it before.
go and buy a 12v test light, autozone has them for like $5.
place the alligator clamp on some bare metal, then touch the yellow wire with the other side of the test light, if the test light lights up, and stays on, the headunit isn't grounded very good.
