S13 rear factory amps question

S13 rear factory amps question
Okay, it seems to me like nobody has bypassed the rear factory amps in their s13 fastback with the factory "Active speaker" system installed. Im running a new headunit and speakers and want to bypass the REAR amps... im not sure which wires are the + and - for the input...
I have another question too... the stock speakers were rated for like what 8w rms? if my stereo puts out 25w rms and i dont bypass the amps, is it gonna give me like no power at all or something?

what headunit are we talking (25 RMS is pretty damn hefty for a sub-$500 headunit... its prolly "25w x 4" which is peak value, NOT rms)... and dont use the factory wiring... run your own... $15 bucks at CC for 30 ft of decent wire... do yourself a favor... im an installer at cc and have rerun wire for both my 91 SE hatch and my 91 SE coupe... sounds a lot cleaner and more powerful.

its an alpine 9805, im pretty sure its 22 or 23 rms, 50w peak per channel. I was thinking of running new wires, since the rears seem easier to get to... i think ill just do that instead of messing with factory wiring... what is it, like 16awg? its tiny whatever it is.

I don't see what'd be hard about bypassing it. Just cut off the connector and solder the wires together. FSM should be all you need if you don't feel like looking at all the wiring. Though I didn't do that myself, I just wired up my speakers w/ 18 awg. And stock gauge is no where near 16, try like 20-22. 16 would be way over kill, hell even 18 is a bit much.

you prob dont need this but for others who just want to stick with stock wiring and bypassing the amps...
240s have three amps - one behind each front speaker in the doors(it's the circuit board there) and one mounted on the drivers side of the trunk by the rear shock tower(it's the metal box).
Bypassing them goes like this:
Drivers side front amp
Cut the blue/white wire - connect to positive (+) speaker terminal
Cut the blue/yellow wire - connect to negative (-) speaker terminal
Passenger side front amp
Cut the brown wire - connect to positive (+) speaker terminal
Cut the brown/white wire - connect to negative(-) speaker terminal
Rear amp
Cut the brown and red wires and connect them together
Cut the brown/white and green wires and connect them together
Cut the blue/white and purple wires and connect them together
Cut the blue/yellow and pink wires and connect them together

i did this myself when i was bored on my day off. sound is a lot more natural and not digitized. be sure to yank out the clunky rear amp too

I removed and bypassed the rear amp on mine. I had 3 amps in my coupe. I traced the colors from the deck output and spliced where necessary in the trunk. Running new wires would be better though.
Sound is indeed noticeably better with the amp removed.
