SONY. every installer i've talked to says sony is crap. the hu's keep on busting and the subs and speakers blow out easily. go with pioneer or rockford fosgate. most of the stuff is pretty cheap and they sound really good. you'll thank yourself in the long run.

On the other hand.... my brother got a full Xplod setup for his 2001 Prelude the morning after he bought the car (October of 2000) and he's had no problems to this day. He chose Xplod because it's budget friendly and he likes the color coordination action (whatever). Personally I'm a Pioneer man, and I've had 5 so far that ran flawless; I only went through 5 HU's because I'd like the new models so I'd sell the old one to get a new one

I'd disagree. Although I love the pioneer cd players, I don't care much for their amps or subs. the entry level sony's do suck, no doubt about it, but their higher end subs aren't that bad at all, won't win any sound competitions, but for the price it isn't too bad. I do like RF subs and their amp are swEEt as well. My wiring and cap are only ever RF or Monster Cable.

What about your speakers, are they all stock? You're way better off geting 1 sub and getting aftermarket speakers, a sound system doesn't consist merely of Bass, although thats what most people believe.

My mistake... I didn't specify that I was only talking about Pioneer CD players! I've never used anything else from Pioneer except maybe a coaxial or 2 in other cars.

And Doc is right - if you keep your stock speakers and just add subs, it'll sound crappy. If you just swap from a stock HU to a higher powered, aftermarket HU, your sound will also sound crappy and you'll probably blow out your stock speakers.

Also, you don't need 1000 watts unless you plan on being the sound system for your whole neighborhood. Even a single 10" powered by a 200w amp tuned to the right frequency can out bump a pair of 12's

Hell yeah I would too, but the guy is saving for a front clip. Maybe it would be better if we knew your budget to make sugggestions, NOS.

they are 4x6's from factory in the doors but very easily changed to 6.5's with a thin piece of wood and a jig saw.
