Subwoofer tie down suggestions?

Ok, I've been havin my sub and amp just sliding around in the trunk forever now and I want to do something about it. I know how I can hold my amp down because it has holes for screws on the edges. My sub box just has very small edges and I can't seem to get a screw in very well to hold it. I've heard of using bungy cords, but attach them to where on the car?
What do you guys use?

-Thanks

you would usually find some crossmember in the frame to hook the bungy cords on... you might have to remove the carpet on the insides of the trunk to find suitable holes.

I'll look for some, but.... I'm havin trouble visualizing how I'm gonna keep it from sliding front-back and side-side without my entire trunk covered in bungy cords.....

make an amp rack, or attach the amp to the sub if you can. Personally i'm going to make an amp rack for the amp and capacator and then for the sub to hook to it, i've seen people use velcro man, whatever works.

Here's what I did - you know the wooden piece that covers the spare tire? I bolted my speaker box into that piece using 8 screws and 2 of those small metal "L"brackets. Granted if your speaker box is too big, it'll either tear the bolts out the first time you turn, or break the small "stands" that hold that wood piece in place.

Or you can get a 2x4 that fits snug against the back part of your trunk (from left to right) and bracket it there maybe.

Well, for the amp, I was just gonna get a thicker piece of plywood under the carpet to screw it to so it's more sturdy. I guess if I can get some of those brackets, I might be able to make it work. Last time I looked, I couldn't find the right size, but I guess I'll look harder!!

I don't want to screw my amp to the sub box 'cause I'd like to have as few holes in the box as possible.

Hey guys and gals. I used to own a 93 240sx (hatch back) but now have a 02 Altima. Thought I'd share my thoughts here as well.

Anyways, with the 240 I removed the cover in the back. I dont know what exactly it was called, but it was made of hard plastic and had some sort of carpet applied to it. There's a groove about 12" long (on both sides) where that cover rested on when the hatch was closed. I made a simple amp rack with plywood and carpeted it. The rack was about 12" X 36". The amp's where screwed to this. I made a box for 3 JL 8W6's (sealed) and placed it below the rack. If I still had the car, I'd post pic's. This worked out great for me back then. I hope this helps or gives you a few ideas.

Yea, there are some Home Depots up here, but they're not exactly close to where I live. I think I'll try an Ace Hardware first.

I have not installed my system yet into my 240 but i had an altima and what i did was took a thing piece of wood out lined the trunk covered with carpet. where my spare tire was i had hinges so i could lift it hung a hook from rear upper part of the trunk so i could get to the tire and not have to hold the wood. My amps were mounted to this wood and my speaker box was originally L bracketed to thin wood although later i built an enclosure on the wood. I plan to do the same again to the 240

Hell yeah - that's exactly what I did in my 200SX!

If you have decent carpentry skills, this would be a little time consuming, but the outcome will be very very nice.
