what the hell is wrong with my radio

i have a kenwood head unit, the kind that flips all the way around when the car is off so it looks like nothing is there....well now when i turn the car on the unit flips over like it should, except now the face plate doesn't light up and i can't control anything...the radio comes on, but i can't change the station, put in a CD...nothing responds

any ideas?

When did you get this headunit and who installed it?

Oh yea is there any "reset" button on your headunit?

Maybe you blew a fuse or you ignition messed something up. I know the last part didn't make sense, but when I had my stock system I started up my car in a bad why (turn the key for a second and stop) and my stereo didn't light up nor did it play CD's.....it only plays radio. So one day I live my lights on and my battery is dead, start u the car and out of nowhere everything is working. Maybe you can disconnect the battery and see what happens.

look for a tiny little button on the trim of the face. or maybe on the sides of the face if its one of those that rotates. if you have it it you will hafta push it down with a needle or something and hold it for 5 seconds. that should reset it and maybe fix it.

Do you have a simple voltage meter? YOu might want to check that the voltage coming through the red wire is at least 12.0-14.4V and also you would want to check the ground on the radio. Make sure the black wire also has current -12.0V

so hook the meter's black part to the ground and the red on to the power wire. IT should give u voltage if not constant then u will need a constant feed of voltage or a good ground.

if that fails then try another radio from someone or if you have the factory one to see if it works and if it does then it's definitely the radio and see if you can get warranty work from kenwood or seller

when i installed my pioneer into my sentra, i had a hella big problem. i was blowing fuses left and right and it was because i had the ground wire from the stereo connected into my pioneer harness, but the stock female harness didn't have a wire coming from the hole that the pioneer harness's ground wire ran to. i ended up wiring the ground wire to the stereo mounting bracket and not even using the harness for it. grounding the stereo properly is very important. make sure yours is.
