octane levels?

octane levels?

i heard that japan has got higher octane levels than here in the US.
My ? is how high is the highest and what is the lowest.

in the us or japan? Well the highest u can find on the pump around here is 91...but in sum places u can find 95 or 96. The lowest here is..87. In japan so i hear people dont put nething less then 96 octane in there performance cars They can go up over 110 octane...u can get it here but its not street legal. i belive the highest street legal octane is 100, which is called cool blue from 76.

thats what I heard about them. Also doesnt that cool blue cost like 50 bucks per bucket?

i dont know about 50 bucks..i can get mine for 35 bucks. But i dont know if i would want one..seems expensiveeeee just for 5 gallons.

yes it is..its usually only used for when ur racing. and when ur draggin..u dont run with a full tank.

do racers even have full tanks? or do they get smaller ones made? i remember my friend from the bay reduced his gas tank so it fit just a little bit more gas then he needed to run a quarter mile (obviously his car isnt a street car) ;x

They sell smaller fuel sells that can fit in ur trunk. Of course u wont be using that car for daily driving

all i know is 110 octane is illegal..i dont know how they will know though

The octane here in japan ranges from 93-111, at least thats the lowest and highest Ive ever came across. On base they sell crappy 89 octane, which sucks sooooo bad when you are running high boost, so I have to fill up with off base gas at least once a month to help clean out all the crap, I also have to use octane boost our my car runs like shiat.
