drifting... faddish? or motorsport?

i hear that many people think drifting is a fad. if this everyones thought then why is it becomeing so popular? here in japan drifting has been going on for many years. maybe its a fad to americians but here in japan, drifting is a type of motorsport. some of the JTGC(Japan Grand Touring Championship) drivers are also in the D1GP (drifting). the only reason i even bring this up is because i am just curious as to how popular drifting is in the states. here its huge.

Question Vandit: Why convert a WRX to FWD?
