props on the swap, badass car.. even though im against it..and i think the sr sounded so much better..jus my opinion though
|
Screw purism, I'd take an LS1 over my stock 2.4 any day! Although, how much does it upset the car's balance?

Its good to see you are interested, I think thats awesome that you support your man! He did a righteous job.
|
The LS1 probably helps the car's balance, considering it's over 100 pounds lighter than the KA24. It's probably damn near 50/50 weight balance.
|
Well.. to start things out nicely.. he has a nice car, but I hate the LS1 mod in anything that it does not belong it.
Two - Tell him to go on a god damn track. He's going to end up killing someone else or himself. |

As for "telling him to go on a god damn track"....this was one night to get video smashin with his friends...safe? maybe not... but not something he does every day. He track races the car with his racing seats/seatbelts and helmet. The video wasn't meant for people to judge his driving ethics...but to see the car and what it can do. Sorry u disapprove...but i really wasnt looking for anyone's approval. just wanted to share because regardless of his night drifting and mountain sliding...im proud of him. Alexis |

I was wondering about the weight comparison myself. I know the KA is an iron block, so it's pretty heavy for its size. Is the LS1 aluminum?

And I cant understand why somebody wouldnt like a LS1 in a 240. Thats like a guy saying he doesnt want a bigger penis and the ability to last longer in bed. LSx's have been known to get 30MPG on the highway, while putting down more torque than you can shake a stick at. To get that much power out of a nissan engine fuel economy and turbo lag become worse. |

Cmon jessica. It was like midnight and NOBODY was on the street. I'm sure that almost everybody (well, every guy) on this site has done that at some point.
|
It doesn't matter what time it was Ryguy. You are still dumb for doing it. No matter if "nobody was out" at that time. It's illegal and this site does not condone it. But hey, since I'm not a mod or the owner of the site, everyone will disregard my comment.
Maybe I'll find a really bad car crash from illegal street activities where someone died so I can post up my own pictures and videos of that. It won't be too "cool" then.. would it? I guess I'm just "old" and find things like this completely immature. |
i agree with jessica, in that its foolish and immature, but that probably wont stop me from doing similar things, because im foolish and immature.
|
my bf didnt do any of the weighing himself, it came from a site as well... weighed his car on a scale...less his body weight to get the weight of the car. he said his car was 2600 with the KA....i think the next time he does an Ls1 for someone else....he is going to weigh it out. i think that would be hella good information to have. I was just in awe how he was able to do any of it really...i pretty much thought the car u bought came with that engine and that was that. lol its just way cool to me :b_yellow:

I'm not trying to be a *****, but anything illegal on the street is not condoned on this site. It doesn't matter if it was "one night" or not. All it takes is a little slip up and he's critically injured or dead. If you love him so much, maybe you'd tell him to take it to a track and do things legally.
That's just my two cents. |
Hey, I respect him. I respect him for being able to do a swap like that, and Im not gonna judge somebody who drifts in the mountains either.

street drifting wrong? yes, but we cant hate on our roots..i love street drift, along with 50% of the other people, i just keep it off the boards.. nobody needs a lesson on what is an illegal activity, we all know it is, if all u want to do is get on the thread and flame cuz its illegal then dont post.. any more arguing and its closed. |

and for cronux, what might stop you from doing that kind of stuff is crashing and dieing or coming close. it sure stooped me. 5 years and counting race free. |
hmmmmm
Very nice, I'd still prefer to see it all in a Camaro sliding on the track, but . . .a valiant swap and valiant effort in driving with all that torque. -Dave |
why are you posting for him???? tell him to come aboard. i respect the work in all, but its pretty common like everything else... also with all the kits that even McKinney sports has came up on, the swap is way easier than what it use to be.
im not even going to lie....... I use drift heavily on the street but i will never post it online again. with my career now i cant even afford to just got out and have a late night spin anymore. |

I hope the thread gets closed. Seriously. Alexis:wave: hope the thread gets closed. |
calm down please i just asked a question.. its great that he does his work.. he seems like a real guy, its pretty common. I do all of my own work to
ma'am so trust me i know what it feels like to create a car from scratch, i have done it many times over. i was just making a statement. not only on this site but all others, you just have to be able to take whatever comments you get. I personally have been fried before for displaying my street drifting and i got tired people judging me without know who the hell i was. once again if you really think the comments were negative.. try zilvia |
Well, true, he shouldn't drift in the streets, but it's retarded because most of us do. Whether we set out to do it, or it "just happens" we all, in some shape or form have played around on public roads or in parking lots.
I mean, look at me, I'm a professionally licensed instructor with the SCCA and I still have my fun whenever conditions permit, that doesn't mean that I go out and intentionally swing the tailend around through turns, but it does mean that I have a few closed out parking lots that I have had, and still have, my fun in. What Donny is saying isn't anything negative about his drifting in the streets, he's just stating the fact that when you're in the military, you have to be very careful with who finds out what you do. I know this because I'm a former US Marine (OO RAH) and I know the perils of your CO finding out about your "foolishness". He also states that he just doesn't do it anymore. He never once degraded you or your boyfriend for your actions, he just was wondering why you posted this for him and not have him post it himself. Furthermore, and this is why I believe that females can never truly be competitive in the sport of auto racing, if things that people say are bothering you that much, you need to make sure that what you post, when you post, where you post and how you post have no effect on anyone what so ever. If you can't do that, which NONE of us can, then you need to simply stop posting. -Dave |

You may not be posting for him but it would be nice if he was on here and could clear up issue without an inbetween. People who have done this swap have done all the work themselves. For those who dont know the Hinson "kit" is just a bunch of metal plates that you still have to weld yourself. Its far from a bolt in mount kit. If you can handle that you realize that you dont need the "kit" at all.
As far as the street stuff goes don't listen to them. They like to complain and say they dont do it but in reality they aren't at events they are in front of their keyboards. Thats why they don't. I think its fair to say everyone has gotten supid on the street before at least once. Your mans car sounds mean. Hope he gets some track timw with it. |
