Ya...not a supporter of the night or mountain drifting thing lol the swap was a lot of work..challenging from what i could gather when he would explain things here and there...not too mention the amount of time he spent modifying it and everything. but im hella proud of him...it definitely is a beast. I want a coupe hella much! i cant wait...but no ls1 in that lol i want to be able to drive the damn thing. :) lexi

motegineon 04-13-2007 05:18 PM

props on the swap, badass car.. even though im against it..and i think the sr sounded so much better..jus my opinion though

epp_b 04-13-2007 08:08 PM

Screw purism, I'd take an LS1 over my stock 2.4 any day! Although, how much does it upset the car's balance?

Ima do my best to answer that! lol He said that he doesn't even notice the motor being there..when he had the RB in he felt it alot, but the Ls1 is a champ. i know that when he first put in the engine and started testing it out...the back end would slide hella easily out of 3rd. he didnt put in the sway bar until after he drifted a few times and knew he needed it. the video is after the sway bar was put in. i have links to his photobucket and a rockyou slide show...showing his build...if anyone is interested!! i have this one video of another engine he built for his 240z the 3.2L Stroker...i wish he would do something like that for this engine. He did a walk around and rev'd it hella high! i think rite now his rev limit is at 6k...but it sounds wicked when he's speeding all crazy lol he dragged it too..but now i forgot what time he was getting..in like 13.6 range or something for the quarter mile run. I am not sure tho. Im just his biggest fan...and the car thing is new to me, but i love it. it is so interesting to me! :) Alexis

RuizXIII 04-13-2007 09:52 PM

Its good to see you are interested, I think thats awesome that you support your man! He did a righteous job.

ryguy 04-13-2007 10:21 PM

The LS1 probably helps the car's balance, considering it's over 100 pounds lighter than the KA24. It's probably damn near 50/50 weight balance.

JessicaS14 04-13-2007 11:31 PM

Well.. to start things out nicely.. he has a nice car, but I hate the LS1 mod in anything that it does not belong it.

Two - Tell him to go on a god damn track. He's going to end up killing someone else or himself.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion...doesnt take away from the fact that:
(1) he accomplished what he set out to do or (2) made one savage vehicle.

As for "telling him to go on a god damn track"....this was one night to get video smashin with his friends...safe? maybe not... but not something he does every day. He track races the car with his racing seats/seatbelts and helmet. The video wasn't meant for people to judge his driving ethics...but to see the car and what it can do. Sorry u disapprove...but i really wasnt looking for anyone's approval. just wanted to share because regardless of his night drifting and mountain sliding...im proud of him. Alexis

i dont think i understand the whole balance thing lol i will ask him about that later. what i do know about the weight: Ls1 weighs 460 with everything but tranny, KA engine and tranny weigh 505. His car weighs 2625 (with the ls1) and with half a tank of gas. i am not sure what it weighed before the swap but i can find out...

epp_b 04-14-2007 07:41 AM

I was wondering about the weight comparison myself. I know the KA is an iron block, so it's pretty heavy for its size. Is the LS1 aluminum?

Hey dickwad. Quoted directly from Hinson Super Cars: "The LS1 T56 combo is 128 pounds lighter than the KA four cylinder it replaces." So eat that. Next time you disagree how about you give some information as opposed to being a little prick and just putting "Misinformation." I dont even care if I'm wrong, but smart ass remarks like that piss me off.

And I cant understand why somebody wouldnt like a LS1 in a 240. Thats like a guy saying he doesnt want a bigger penis and the ability to last longer in bed. LSx's have been known to get 30MPG on the highway, while putting down more torque than you can shake a stick at. To get that much power out of a nissan engine fuel economy and turbo lag become worse.

I'm not trying to be a *****, but anything illegal on the street is not condoned on this site. It doesn't matter if it was "one night" or not. All it takes is a little slip up and he's critically injured or dead. If you love him so much, maybe you'd tell him to take it to a track and do things legally.

That's just my two cents.

ryguy 04-14-2007 09:24 AM

Cmon jessica. It was like midnight and NOBODY was on the street. I'm sure that almost everybody (well, every guy) on this site has done that at some point.

JessicaS14 04-14-2007 09:29 AM

It doesn't matter what time it was Ryguy. You are still dumb for doing it. No matter if "nobody was out" at that time. It's illegal and this site does not condone it. But hey, since I'm not a mod or the owner of the site, everyone will disregard my comment.

Maybe I'll find a really bad car crash from illegal street activities where someone died so I can post up my own pictures and videos of that. It won't be too "cool" then.. would it?

I guess I'm just "old" and find things like this completely immature.

cronux 04-14-2007 09:39 AM

i agree with jessica, in that its foolish and immature, but that probably wont stop me from doing similar things, because im foolish and immature.

lexidrifts13 04-14-2007 09:43 AM

my bf didnt do any of the weighing himself, it came from a site as well... weighed his car on a scale...less his body weight to get the weight of the car. he said his car was 2600 with the KA....i think the next time he does an Ls1 for someone else....he is going to weigh it out. i think that would be hella good information to have. I was just in awe how he was able to do any of it really...i pretty much thought the car u bought came with that engine and that was that. lol its just way cool to me :b_yellow:

Id agree...i am not a supported of the night drifting or mountain sliding thing as I said in a previous post. Not that it matters, I did ask him not to do that anymore...and he does take it to the track. As I said before, the video is not meant for ppl to judge him or his driving...or if what he is doing is immature...hes a guy and at some time or another testosterone gets the best of all of them...the video was to share showing what the car sounds like and blah blah blah. He is track racing it Sunday, hopefully I can get some good footage of that. If I had track racing footage or a "walk around" video...I would have posted that. This is what I had, so this is what I posted. Im just proud of him regardless. Alexis

ryguy 04-14-2007 10:00 AM

Hey, I respect him. I respect him for being able to do a swap like that, and Im not gonna judge somebody who drifts in the mountains either.

Thanks! That is all I was really trying to show, u know? It was hella work and for him to be able to do it...i dont know..it was hella cool to me. i didnt want for him to get like trashed talked about for where he was driving or anything. lol its all good tho. i have mad respect for him, too. thanks so much ur comment!! :thumb:

ok no more crap about the vid, jessica your right this site doesnt condone illegal street activities but lexi is on the site, not her BF. props to ur bf for the swap, i realize all u were tryin to do was show people the car and what it could do, not give us all a lesson on whats morally right or wrong.. people have mixed opinions about street drifting ect... and i know that it is illegal but so are a lot of other things people do..so if i go and post up a vid of nomuken tearing it up on the streets are yall all gonna start flaming because hes not on the tracks?? i dont think so

street drifting wrong? yes, but we cant hate on our roots..i love street drift, along with 50% of the other people, i just keep it off the boards.. nobody needs a lesson on what is an illegal activity, we all know it is, if all u want to do is get on the thread and flame cuz its illegal then dont post..

any more arguing and its closed.

i too agree with jessica.

and for cronux, what might stop you from doing that kind of stuff is crashing and dieing or coming close. it sure stooped me. 5 years and counting race free.

USMCDrifter 04-14-2007 02:28 PM

hmmmmm

Very nice, I'd still prefer to see it all in a Camaro sliding on the track, but . . .a valiant swap and valiant effort in driving with all that torque.

Biggamehit 04-15-2007 12:23 PM

why are you posting for him???? tell him to come aboard. i respect the work in all, but its pretty common like everything else... also with all the kits that even McKinney sports has came up on, the swap is way easier than what it use to be.

im not even going to lie....... I use drift heavily on the street but i will never post it online again. with my career now i cant even afford to just got out and have a late night spin anymore.

First of all, im not posting "for" him. I belong to this site...im not even sure if he does or not. He belongs to other sites..hybridz, ls1tech, neo something or other...im not really sure. i like this site...i like 240sx's so i post here. i guess it is pretty common and sure there are hella kits out there for hella money...but i was just proud because he did it ALL himself. The fabrication, the wiring, the installing...everything. every bolt, every screw, every wire..he touched it. He made all the headers....adapter plates...everything! that was the only purpose for the post. apparantly it made him look foolish, immature, unsafe and a criminal...totally not what i set out to do. that sucks, but oh well...live and learn i guess. He doesn't drift heavliy on the street lol he spends 85% of his time working on cars for himself and other people. As much as this post is getting flamed and his driving ethics or whatever are getting roasted...i doubt he will join.

thanks to all who posted with their positive attitudes and constructive feedback...but this negativity really sucks.

I hope the thread gets closed. Seriously.

Alexis:wave:

hope the thread gets closed.

Biggamehit 04-15-2007 01:34 PM

calm down please i just asked a question.. its great that he does his work.. he seems like a real guy, its pretty common. I do all of my own work to
ma'am so trust me i know what it feels like to create a car from scratch, i have done it many times over. i was just making a statement.

not only on this site but all others, you just have to be able to take whatever comments you get. I personally have been fried before for displaying my street drifting and i got tired people judging me without know who the hell i was. once again if you really think the comments were negative.. try zilvia

USMCDrifter 04-15-2007 01:34 PM

Well, true, he shouldn't drift in the streets, but it's retarded because most of us do. Whether we set out to do it, or it "just happens" we all, in some shape or form have played around on public roads or in parking lots.

I mean, look at me, I'm a professionally licensed instructor with the SCCA and I still have my fun whenever conditions permit, that doesn't mean that I go out and intentionally swing the tailend around through turns, but it does mean that I have a few closed out parking lots that I have had, and still have, my fun in.

What Donny is saying isn't anything negative about his drifting in the streets, he's just stating the fact that when you're in the military, you have to be very careful with who finds out what you do. I know this because I'm a former US Marine (OO RAH) and I know the perils of your CO finding out about your "foolishness". He also states that he just doesn't do it anymore. He never once degraded you or your boyfriend for your actions, he just was wondering why you posted this for him and not have him post it himself.

Furthermore, and this is why I believe that females can never truly be competitive in the sport of auto racing, if things that people say are bothering you that much, you need to make sure that what you post, when you post, where you post and how you post have no effect on anyone what so ever. If you can't do that, which NONE of us can, then you need to simply stop posting.

down_shift 04-15-2007 01:47 PM

You may not be posting for him but it would be nice if he was on here and could clear up issue without an inbetween. People who have done this swap have done all the work themselves. For those who dont know the Hinson "kit" is just a bunch of metal plates that you still have to weld yourself. Its far from a bolt in mount kit. If you can handle that you realize that you dont need the "kit" at all.

As far as the street stuff goes don't listen to them. They like to complain and say they dont do it but in reality they aren't at events they are in front of their keyboards. Thats why they don't. I think its fair to say everyone has gotten supid on the street before at least once.

Your mans car sounds mean. Hope he gets some track timw with it.

i didnt mean for it to sound like his comments were negative..they werent. ;) I dont think there is really a "safe" place to post where u dont get flamed by someone or the other. he actually told me i would get flamed and what not...but whatever lol i got flamed for not using the search feature at one site so its not like im not used it...but still...its like donny? i guess said...no one knows him and are trashing him...i just dont like it. :( anyway...about the whole female thing in autoracing..uh...i personally dont think i could do it cuz i dont think i could handle the car...but im sure there are some girls that could? who knows...id love to learn to drift but not this car lol i want a nice beater car that wont matter if the fender falls off? lol alexis

ya...i can try to get him to join. i didnt think there would be questions about it really lol am i lame? lol ya...i read on Ls1tech about alot of them. i saw this one guy putting it in an rx7 too....but i think my bf was saying its an easier swap. i know there are hella ppl that can do the work themselves...and im in awe of each of them. to see a car with no engine at all...and then to see it with one and it actually starts...lol thats just awesome to me. i know everyone does the "illegal" thing here and there..its all good. i think i may have had a midol moment. lol im better now ;) he is track racing it today. drift battle at the altamont in tracy..should be sweet. at least its legal! ;)
