automatic shifting problem

i drive a 93' 240sx automatic with only about 100,000 miles on it....whenever i drive it....i put it on drive and drive normally but then sometimes i drive and it wont shift and at about 30 mph its at the redline and doesnt shift....its like a manual staying in 1st gear and not shifting.....its kind of ironic of an automatic tranny car misshifting or not shifting at all....does anyone know what the problem is or anything that will help?....thnx

Sounds like when I had my old 1993 altima, my friend blew the tranny to hell trying to do neutral drops, lost reverse and everything, it was still somewhat driveable (minus reverse) but it just took a hell of a long time to shift

the only time the problem pops up is when im on drive.....dont really do any of the downshifting or neutral drops or anything.....guess its just the age of the car or the previous owner.....but does anyone know what the problem is or how to fix it and how much it would cost?
