Changing clutch*new pics*

ok me and my cousin are trying to change the clutch on his 240, its turned out to be more work than we expected but, i think we have all the tranny bolts removed and we removed the slave cylinder and starter, once all the tranny bolts are off how does the tranny come off? do we pull it or what, what method do you guys use? also is it absolutely necessary to remove the driveshaft?

LOOK DOWN FOR PICS

here is a walk though

also when you put you tranny back on the top 4 bolts are tourqed to 36lbs and the bottom to 29

recommended to diy? considering limited tools? or take it to a shop and get raped by shop rates? just considering doing it myself...

it is ez to do your self provided you can raise the car pretty high.

Matt just remove the bolts then disconnect the drive shaft. Wiggle the tranny off. Getting it back on is the PITA. just reverse the way you took it off.

SW20- I buy th parts yourself and work a deal out with a shop to let you use the lift and tools.

Catharsis 01-10-2005 07:37 PM

yes its not hard ou just need a 1/2 drive and a $25 set of craftsman sockts ada tourqe wrench

plus jack/jackstand

Mattyg2 01-10-2005 09:30 PM

yes we have the high raising 3 ton jack and a small jack holding the tranny for support and 2 jack stands holding the car up also, but if you got all the tools necessary and you got time then id say you can diy, but its just more than what i expected to do. And btw thank you all for helping me out, i thought i would get flamed for having a integra on here but u guys are cool thanks a lot

smokie700 01-10-2005 11:38 PM

hey we are all car enthuasists(sp?) This board is great because when someone asks a resonable question they will get great answers, now when someone asks a stoopid question well commence wit the flaming. haha

dam that looks pretty bad, i would jus drop by a junk yard or any place that does swap, they should have a tranny laying around somewhere, i dont think it should cost much

what do you mean swap? you mean like see if we can trade the tranny for another one at a junk yard?
