hey! this might sound like a noob question. but I just wonder what are the pros and cons about different stages clutches. since they only have $15 difference (the ACT one, not big brand like HKS). will those six pugs have worse wareage than the full circle?

To be honest you can wear out a stage 3 just as quick as a 1 or 2. I know from experience. It depends on the driver. But the biggest difference is amount of power/torque it holds and drivability you will have. Yes the 3 can handle more power. You dont want a 350hp 240 with a stage 2 clutch. At the most that clutch can handle is 275, maybe.

Question is:
What kind of power/torque are you looking for (now or in the future)?
Is this going to be a track car?
Do you not care if its a b!#@h to shift in traffic?

Just a few questions that we need to help you out.

This is a good site to refrence off of and to give you a little knowledge on what to look for. It might not be the brand you want but is still a good knowledge base.

well my I don't think my 240sx will have over 200whp unless I change my engine, which mean clutch as well. but are you saying stage 3 clutch are harder to shift?

so will a stage 3 clutch still help launching for my car?

It wont necessarily be harder to shift. I had a stage 3 on my last car and it shifted like stock. But it was a b!tch in traffic. Just a little jumpy that is all. And yes it will lauch your car for the fact that it will hold the power that you are putting to the wheels. Just dont get a puck style. Make sure its a sprung disk. The puck style will give you a headache after 20 min of traffic.

i believe each stage is meant to be used at a certain temperature also, so if the temperature isnt ideal for the clutch, for example stage 3 is made to run at pretty high temps, but if you're gonna street it, it wont be at the right temp while driving, which can cause abnormal wear and the clutch might not be at its full potential. im not sure on this so dont take my word for it

if its mainly for street driving i suggest a stage 2

Yes this is true. I just recomended the higher stage if there was big plans for something like turbo or NOS. Just anything that puts it over 250 or so hp. Usually this isnt a big deal if you can put the power to the wheels.
