Just got my J30 DIFF- HELP! Few Q's!!!

Alright guys,
just got back from the junk yard and i think i scored. I got a 93 j30 diff. I know the output shafts are different, so i also got the axles.

NOW. in research i found out that ALL j30 diffs are 3/4 of an inch longer. Meaning my current driveshaft will be 3/4 of an inch too long(suposedly).

My question is.... Is this true? What do i do? Someone said get a abs/lsd driveshaft off of a 240, but that will be near impossible! Can i have my current shaft cut?

Has anyone already done a j30 diff? If so, can you give pointers? Did it work with stock non lsd driveshaft?

thanks a lot guys!

You won't need an abs/lsd s14 driveshaft because J30's are the same size. It's the s14 vlsd's that are 3/4" longer.

I have the s14 vlsd waiting to go in and I may need that abs/lsd driveshaft.

This site will tell you everything you need. I do need to say the driveshaft is a bit longer, but it can't be used. where the driveshaft bearing sits on the 240, it doesn't sit the same for the J30.
I also believe that rear end can't be swapped, unless it is a 95 or 96 J30

shift-drift- THANKS A LOT!!

Finally a helpfull reply!!!

I wasn't quite sure what you meant by "couldn't use that driveshaft because of bearing location". What did you end up using instead of the stock driveshaft? A lsd one or what?

thanks again man.

really appritiate it.

are you f'ing kidding me man.

It is all i can afford. It's better than what i have now.

And why don't you try real hard to find ONE reason why it's not worth 100 bucks??? Thats right. I paid 98 dollars for the diff and BOTH axles. No it's not ****ed. I found it at the yard, and pulled it myself.

Have you DONE this, or had an driveshaft cut YOURSELF?

Half of the people say the driveshaft is too long, half say it's just fine. HOWEVER, NONE of these people have ACTUALLY done the swap.

Thats why i'm here. to see who has ACTUALLY done the swap. Shift-drift is the first person i've heard of who has ACTUALLY done the swap, and i'm waiting for his responce.

thanks!

Sorry to be an ***, but sometime ya gotta make do with what ya got.

i pulled the guts and put it in the stock diff.

i would turn around and sell the diff for $300, i did the same thing you did. but its not worth wasting your money for sure.

i may be able to help you with a fair rice on a real LSD

hit me up on aim
