it can handle upper 200 hp range, it's a tough little tranny. Dunno about a build for stronger internals, most people don't have to worry about 300rwhp on their KA.

here's an idea; if you need extra strength go rip the trans out of an '83 280zx turbo. That is a borg-warner T5, same design as in 5.0 mustangs, 83-92 Z28's, and a bunch of 300zx's from 84-89. It's plenty strong to handle the KA, and it's easily rebuildable. Remember though, ONLY the 280zx turbo trans will bolt up.

for some strange reason, i'm thinking that if u get an RB20DET, u'll get its transmission, too (which is quite strong)...

there are rumors that RB20DET trans go after 300whp, and i heard that the RB20DET tranny is basically the same internally with the KA , that why i asked the question

well from my understanding the sr20det tranny is good for up to around 400hp so i would imagine that the rb20 has got to be atleast that good...right?

ya know for some reason i never even gave it a thought..
But how about those guys with 400+ HP KATs? Would you actually need to modify the tranny to handle that kinda power???
