newbie queston about auto to 5spd swap??

I am a nissan newbie and was wondering how much would it cost to convert a 95-98 240 to a 5spd. OR is it better to just get a manual.

if you have to ask its better to just buy a manual. not being insulting at all, just that if you dont know how much the parts are, or what parts you need, means you prob dont have the backround, tools, and experience to get it done right. Its not worth it for what a shop will charge, in most cases, cause you can just find one in manual for less of a price difference, so why bother.
If the car is SUPER clean, or you get a really good deal on it, or you already have it before you intend to change it, then its worth it, but not just to pick one up and convert it. Just throw a little more money aside, and find a manual, and it makes it alot easier.
Just my opinion, I am not tryin to blow smoke up your a$$ cause I have a shop and thats the kinda stuff I get paid for, but for most people its not worth it.

Yeah I am in the same boat! I am new to the 240 world(actually not part of it yet) I want to buy a '97(there is one for sale in my area) and it is an auto also. I realize the labor and the pain it will take to change out the auto for a 5spd but fromthe sounds of people who have done it that if you kow what your doing and have the parts its fairly easy. I am more interested in where I can get the parts for. I have the means and the resources to do the swap myself as I have way too many wrench heads that I can go to to get the job done for free...well a case of beer anyways.
I am waiting till next week to decide whether to buy this '97 auto(the guy already dropped the price down to $8000US taxes/registry everything but I will make him go down more). While I do the swap I intend to do some extra stuff like add a short-shifter and upgrade the clutch since its already open.
Anyone know where I could buy the transmission/manual cpu and other parts for the 5spd swap? Anywhere close to Detroit/Buffalo?
Thanks
