AT Question

Is starting out in 1 and then shifting to 2 then finally D while driving detrimental to an automatic tranny?

no, it's not that bad for your tranny, or they would make it so you couldn't shift like that.

its a quick an easy lil thing to try. makes it shift a lil more solidly more like a manual would shift or maybe an auto chevy with a shift kit.
its fun once in a while.

no it's not! the thing shift like poop, god the way it shifts you KNOW it has to hurt you and the car! It litterally throws you back and forth when it shifts. thats the automatic tranmission pressure regulator you are unplugging, correct?

im not too sure on what it unplugs to be honest lol i just read what it said on ********** and tried it. maybe its just my car but the difference wasnt all that huge. my trans is also recently rebuilt maybe that has sumthin to do with it? but it just shifts a lil more solidly for me.

Dr. is correct.

It is the connector for the tranny fluid pressure regulator.

On most cars, the shifts become rather violent.

I will try it when I get my car road worthy again.

I had mines unplugged once and the shifts felt nice nothing too violent, Now when its connected its bad I mean sometimes when it shifts it takes 2 1/2 seconds to complete its shift and sometimes it shifts so hard it hurts me. When I change the filter and oil im going to test it both ways.

Unplugging it definitely gets rid of the shift delay issue. The tranny will shift instantly instead of dead-revving and waiting 2 seconds to shift.

it's a temp sensor for the pressure control solenoid. Unplugging just sets the default to max allowable line pressure, which is actually healthy for the trans b/c it cannot slip to soften shifts. My '95 base actually barks 2nd gear w/ 18's and fm901's. Been like that for 30k miles and no probs.
