This may be a newb question but I can't find an answer in the existing forums. Is there any difference between the 5 speed that comes with the KA and the one that comes with the SR20?

So I can just swap the SR20's bellhousing onto my existing trans? And if so are there any differences in gear ratios or input shaft?

 

different gear ratios. dunno about the shaft.

and why do you want to do this?

 

I am thinking about doing a SR swap in the future but still need the car on a day to day basis. I did want to do some minor mods such as a short throw shifter, but I didn't want to put money into a trans that I may not use. But if the parts interchange then i wont worry about it.

 

well, since you put it that way, SR/KA/RB20 share the same shifter assembly. they are interchangeable.

my fault, gear ratios are the same(reverse is different).

cept for 5th in the SR20DE motors.
