slugish acceleration

i have a 91 240 at with 140k miles acceleration sux dont know if its all 240s or just my tranny is messed up. lets say im doing 60 floor it a lil lag engine revs high BUT i acceletate to 65 and climbing slowly i know i read something about the lag (something about ecu or throttle cable or something) but it goes no where when i floor it. I was thinking its something in fuel delivery changed fuel filter, fuel injector cleaner it improved a but but it still sux. any toughts? or is it just a transmission thats messed up and cant put down the power ( transmission kinda shifts hard on when it shifts to 2nd)
dont really care cause im doing sr/5spd swap but its kinda annoying in the highway. thnx for any rplys
