weird smell

my car has been giving off a weird smell....i've had it for two months now....the smell went away a little but now its back...my friend told me it might be my tranny but i wouldnt know where to look....also...a couple weeks ago i notice that there was some smoke coming from under my center console....i was assuming that might be the smell but i do not know what is burning....if anyone have any suggestions please help...

What kind of smell is it? It could be sumthing with ur trans since it was coming from under ur center console..

Off the top of my head, smoke from the center console area might be either an exhaust leak or maybe tranny fluid leaking onto the exhaust?
