welded spider gears ????

I dont know too much about rears, but what would happen if i were to weld the spider gears so that i would have a "posi trac" rear. What would all the possible effects be, would it be recomended, and any other feedback you would like to put in.

You would no longer have any "differential" action in your differential. It would be slightly easier to push the rear end out, but during cornering one or both of the rear tires will skip and chirp. The rear tires will wear out faster than normal.

Not recommended except for messing around on a closed course on tires that you don't care about chewing up.

I believe it would fall under the category of unsafe vehicle condition while on public roads.

I had a welded diff. If was bad understeer then super oversteer. Very tricky to control.

The life span of a welded diff is about 3 months.

I might be stabbing at the dark here, but I'm guessing lifespan of the rear tires on a car with a welded diff - much, much less

Tire's see 3 months on a welded diff haha try 1 month if your lucky. All the diff wanted to do was eat tires.
