240sx RB25DET Project

I have a 1995 Nissan 240SX. I am planning on swapping the KA24 for the RB25DET. I have read many reviews and they say a lot on how the RB26DETT needs tranny, and oil pan from the RB25DET. It seems to me that the RB25DET with it's stock transmission and oil pan will fit the 240sx.

1.)I checked out the Mckinney Motorsports site and it lists an adapter kit, which includes like a driveshaft, mounts, and a cross member. Do I really need to buy this adapter kit from him?

2.)Also I seen them selling a new RB25det oil pan and wondered if I had to buy this or would the stock one work good enough?

Thank You! Nissan Guys

the mckinney kit is definitly recommended by everyone whos done the swap, it makes the motor sit where its supposed to, and solves a few clearance issues, i have not heard one person say its not worth the money.

the stock oilpan works.

good luck

my rb25 is on the way, w00t

I don't recommend it....and I've done the swaps. The kits make the install a little less timely, but it saves a lot of money not to have one. Plus, I have the RB25DET mount kit for $350 instead of $600 and the driveshaft for $400 instead of $500...save money wherever you can with this swap so you can get more goodies later.

of course you dont recommend it, but you recommend yours... sorry but mckinney has a reputation with their kit, you on the other hand, do not.

I didn't recommend my kit, I said I recommended saving money. I do the installs with the stock X-members unless asked to do it with a mount kit. Reputation means 100% price difference...then pay the price. I have the same quality stuff for half the price...I offer a cheaper alternative to most. If you read again it says "I don't recommend the kit and I've done the swaps." If he chooses to go with a mount kit I recommend mine to save a few bucks. Dekand - you can go with whoever you like.
