2jz?????
i dunno about that
Why did Top Secret but a RB26DETT in a supra then. BECAUSE IT WOULD GO FASTER. if you got the $$$ for a 2jz GET THE RB26DETT.

The RB may or may not be faster, but all of the Supra engine parts are here in the US. Things would be easier to find, they would be cheaper. Plus you'd have more support from all of the Supra websites and message boards if you ran into some problems. And the engine is legal to have here but who cares about that part.

There are two dudes in NJ with S14s with 2jzs in them. They compete in drags at Englishtown.

Here is a pic of one:

Another.

I am sorry I would have them on my server but they are over a year old so we erase them:

actually the reason top secret went with the rb in the supra was for 1... to do something different... 2... the RB weighs a hell of alot less than the 2jz...

both engines are fast as hell, just depends on who does it... i mean hell look at Bullish Racing, 2 solaras with 2jz motors and they are both running the fastest times ever recorded for their racing class...

and yes it would be an interesting swap if you do do it... just keep in mind that the 2JZ is EXTREMELY heavy, so don't expect to do any auto-cross or stuff like that...

There are some competitions where you have to drive a car with the same manufacturer's engine. Who knows why the TopSecret folks went with an RB. Could have been to be different. The Japanese LIKE to do thing different. (Sileighty, Onevia, Cefirel, Skyeighty)
The 2JZ is the best enjine Toyota makes! It is a flat out monster! It can REALLY push an s13 along at a pretty nice clip!

one of the reasons the 2jz swap sound more appealing is because the parts would be very easy to find. there is a shop call "sparks" out in hacienda hights that already swapt a 1jz in a s14 so the 2jz should not be a problem.
