another S14 rb swap question??
another S14 rb swap question??
I have a chance to sell my car and am looking at a 95 240sx, so I can avoid the OBDII all together. has anyone done the swap into an S14, and which engine would be better, the rb25det, or the rb26dett as far as fitting and after market??
Thank you very much

Thank you.
Also does the stock 240 tranny work or do you have swap that two. If you do have to swap then is there an issue with the rear end? i ask because i have a friend in cali that has a 6 speed s15 tranny and rear end for me. thanks again.
P.S. this website rocks!!!

I hope I cleared your dilemma up.
Any tranny will work with any engine provided that you have an adapted bell housing. As said before, I wouldn't recommend a S15 tranny either - they have been shown time and time again to not be the strongest things in the world.
The RB25 tranny is larger than the KA and a lot beefier. It requires a 300ZX NA clutch. There are companies in the US currently coming out with full replacement kits (lightened flywheel and clutch as well)...look for those soon.
The RB26 is naturally a stronger engine, but I would have to pick the RB25 over it every day. The reason is that the 26 is only able to push about 100 more hp stock over the 25 ...therefore, for larger hp numbers, you're going to have to do some interior work anyways...of which costs the same on both engines. Not just this, but the RB25 uses a hydraulic cam setup and has VVTC whereas the RB26 doesn't. The RB25 also has larger ports for air to enter the head.
