belt or chain?

im confused all i read is that the rb25 has a timing belt
i always thought that since the ka24 had a chain i didnt think nissan would use a belt on a motor such as the rb25

can anyone clear things up for me
searched the forums and still cant find a clear direct answer

thanks for the help guys again

jus an edit i thought helped me make sense of it
belt is lighter therefore less rotating mass for the motor
helping reduce wear and tear?
still kinda loss

thanks again in advance

Less noise, less weight....less wear on attached parts....less rotational mass to slow....the timing belt is a much better idea all around, if serviced regularly like it should be and power levels are within the belts abilities. If not, you step up to a Power Enterprises or Greddy and then stop worrying again.

Especially when you want the motor to spin upwards of 8000rpm. If you've ever heard an E46 M3's motor, which uses a chain and also spins up to 8000rpm, it sounds similar to a meat grinder. Also, S54 belts are about two inches wide. Those Kevlar belts are about 150% stronger than stock. Highly recommended.
