sheez...I'm glad I live in Oregon. I've never heard of anyone being asked to pop their hood, or getting a ticket for modifying/swapping ANYTHING.

In Japan they have emissions and safety checks and once your engine reaches 100,000KM they tax the holy hell outa you for keeping the car drivable on the streets.

Hows that for strict?

I was wondering the same thing too but i was thinking that if u had locking hood pins then technically they need a warrant cuase it the same thing as if they wanted to check your golve box and its locked they would need a warrant so i figure if u have locking hood pins they would neeed one to, whatever works lol also i heard in japan once u hit 30,000 miles they need to get a new engine thats why whenever u get a J-spec motor they all have 30k miles

The limit is 100,000Km(62,137Miles) and they dont have to change them, they can keep them if they pay the extra taxes, most just replace the car.

Cops cant open a locked area of anything even if its your backpack and its got one of thouse mini locks on it so I guess if you had some sort of locking device on your hood pins that required you to use a key or something to open it then they wouldn't be able to open it without probable cause.

but if they suspect an engine that is not street legal, then they have probable cause.

ok, this is confusing, some people are saying, no they cant pop your hood no matter what..as long as you do nothing stupid, and others are saying they can pop if they want (probable cause). probable cause is bull ****. they can say they have probable cause for anything. anyways. i really need the truth. is anyone a lawyer, or know of one that knows the street laws??? i get pulled over all the time and my luck is good cus the cops that pull me over either dont know **** or just dont care...please i need to know whats up. i dont wanna tell a cop no, if in fact they can **** me either way. u know what i mean???? but i will tell a cop to **** off if i have the advantage..
