Clutch Selection

What clutch would be a good one to use for street use for a RB20DET swap? I don't want a grabby race puck but would like something able to hold the power of the RB20DET FMIC'd on around 10-12 PSI. Will a stock replacement hold it?

I know alot of people have been using SPEC over the past two years since they offer their clutchs at a cheap price. The only thing that is holding me back is that I installed a clutch/flywheel combo in a cavalier and it slips when it gets hot during burnouts. have you considered ACT. Contact Tony at CarsNeffects he just started dealing with them. I was thinking of getting their stage three six puck cluthc disc with the highpressure pressure plate.

I had a clutchmasters in my last car and I liked it, but don't know if they make one for the RB. It was a full organic disc with heavier pressure plate. Figure the clutch is meant for the heavy 300ZX and should hold some decent power in a 240. We have terrible traffic here thanks to our retarded states "retire in washington" advertising so stop and go is an all to often occurance. Sometimes I feel like I'm herding sheep just trying to do the speed limit In short the 6 puck won't do, I'll be hating the car with one. SPEC should be fine anyone recommend a place to pick one up?

I ordered a ACT 6 pad disc that is supposed to handle 463tq and a heavy duty pressure plate from Cars N Effects.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. Maybe we'll go with a good stock replacement and leave it at that. I mean a stock 300Z clutch holds a larger engine in a much heavier car.

If it happens it happens. If something breaks Ill know a weak spot and upgrade it. Its a project car so Im not worried about not being able to drive.

it may not be a weak spot act 6 puck clutchs just blow when i was building hondas i wnet thru like 3 trannies before i figured out it was the clutch then i changed toa 4 puck comp clutch never broke anything an it lasted longer then the act. the clutch has broke some of the strongest parts of my tranny parts that never under condition should have been brokin. i cantthe name of 1 of the parts it broke but a friend of mine who has been woork on honda trannies for the last 30 years or so has never seen the thing i broke broken. ull find out what im talkin about sooner or later.

The pressure plate is still on back order from act and none of it was shipped yet. Do the people who have used these clutchs really think I should cancel the order? Are SPEC clutchs good in the sr? I can name two people who have problems with them.

i dont know how they will handle in a sr20 but if my history is right i would cancel and get something else. for a honda i would normally get like a stage 4 4 puck comp clutch but thats just me. like harsh engagging clutchs but not to harsh to the poin that stuff ends up broke. i perfer the comp because the factory is like 30 minutes form my house and i know 4 people who work there.
