debating on a 92 240sx have a few questions for a swap?!
I have a friend who has experience doing multiple honda swaps in which is going to help me do a swap on a 240 sx he has a big interest in it and hes my best friend so he's gonna help me make sure everything is done right.
Im interested in doing the famous sr20det swap
do i go red top or black top? I would like to go black top cause I did a search and read that they are newer but most of the swaps that I came across are all red tops which I do not mind as either works for me.
Other then ebay any links to where I can buy a complete swap?
Im sure there is going to be odds and ends that I will have to pick up... what are those odds and ends?
Im new to the forum here and once I got experience Im sure I'll be helping others out soooooooo...
Thanks guys

There is alot of good info on doing swaps here on the forums and they will tell you the specifics (i.e. what you need, etc).
But just remeber you dont have to swap, the KA is also good, especially when turbo'd

Yea I wont keep the ka thats in it it has 170k miles and the car itself has 230k so thats alot. I kinda wanted to start out fresh... the CA? im gonna look into this.
I heard theres problems with the rears blowing on the 240's anything I should be looking for?

Well, I'm not going to tell you to keep your stock KA motor, BUT consider this:
It might be more cost effective if you replace worn parts on it, then boost it. I'd go with a compression/leak test to see where you stand, replace parts as needed, and go from there. Putting a turbo setup together can cost as low as $700(I've seen the actual build!) and makes great power! If you're pulling the engine anyway, and if your friend knows how, it might just end up saving you money.
The KA24DE has an iron block, with more displacement, and longer piston stroke for torque!!
Perhaps I'm saying this because I am KA-T, but I'm just letting you know it is another option. Lol.
If your heart is set on the SR20, I'd probably go with the blacktop from the S14, the turbo is a T28(I believe in some cases they are ball-bearing? Not sure.) Also, the motor is equipped with variable valve timing. The Redtop is essentially the same, but it comes stock with a T25, but you could always upgrade that.
Let us know what you decide! Good luck!!
