DIY RB25 swappers

how much did you spend on your swap and where did you spend it to get your rb25 running good? What parts did you need and where did you get them? im planning to do this swap (in an a 90 fb) over winter and wondering how much money i will need. I have between 5-6k right now.

5-6K should take care of you. Get ahold of RKCarguy on this forum to buy a motor or check with www.heavythrottle.com

Just remember, pretty much just like any other swap, once you have the motor, theres a bunch of nickel and dime **** you gotta get, but some you can hold off on, (ie: intercooler, piping, fuel pump, belts, and maybe boost controller.) I whent through mckinney motorsports, cant remember the total, but i got everything through them.. i dont know if i would get anything through them agian though, my motor had a cracked crank pully, missing a sensor in the intake manifold and my tranny dident come with a shifter, and they wond send me one so im trying to track one down or custom make one.. but every thing was clean and the wiring harness was pretty good, better than what i could do atleast.

But i think with motor, motor/tranny mounts driveshaft wiring harness ect. it came to 6 thousand and some change after shipping..

awesome site xjon, i bookmarked the site for future reference. so all that stuff costed around 6k? I think i should be good then with 6k in my pocket for the swap. I could probablly save some money on getting some of the piping done custom at a local shop where i can get hookups at.

Thanks- Plan to spend more. The money I spent didn't include changing any gasket or waterpump, thermostat, belts since they looked like they were serviced recently and looked new. Just depends on what you get. All I changed was exhaust manifold gasket since I had a broken bolt.

about 6k for me, i replaced the timing belt, tensioner, water pump, front/rear main seals, and the clutch before i put it in the car... at minimum i would change the timing belt and tensionor, water pump is good to do while your at it because the timing belt has to come off to get it off anyways...

i just replaced all my belts, clutch looked pretty beefy still so i kept it in there. I plan on pulling my motor out when i get my new itake manifold, exhaust manifold, turbo and clutch, but hell, i need to put my finishing touches on it and actually take it out on the street, insted of pissing off my neighbors by driving up and down the street with just a downpipe.
