Finally Doing The Sr20det Swap!!!!

okay yeah so im finally doing the sr20det swap on my S14 kouki. got a good deal on the engine so you know how it is. BUT!!! i am commited to getting at least 300 hp out of it initially, so what do i have to do? new exhause manifold, bigger turbo, new exhuast, new chip, those are the only things i can think.

anyone with experience please post for me cuz i gotsta know. please post upgrade options and prices if you know em. i want to do this stuff now so its all done in one shot.

oh and the site im buying this stuff off of told me the s13 redtop and blacktop are the same cept that the blacktops ecu gives it just a little more power, is that right?

thanks in advance guys

thats about what im doing right now as well. so far i have put a titanium header, 3 inch exhaust, huge front mount for that dense air, and a good strong clutch to support that power.

I would install the engine first and have a break in period first to make sure everything is running properly.

Then to get more hp add BOV, bigger turbo, bigger intercooler, intake manifold and larger injectors,

300 to the crank?
3" exhaust, fmic, good clutch, fuel pump, radiator, boost and water temp gauge, manual boost controller at 13.5-ish psi...that'd be close, between 285 and 295...then just add a header or whatever to get you across the mark

you won't overheat, but you'll be running the turbo and injectors at their limit pretty much

not to be nitpicky but turbo'd engines don't have headers,

In addition to what i suggested a standalone unit would put into about 350hp or more

haha thanks for the correction. But i thought turbo'd engines have a turbo manifold. I know it is the same thing but some people get real sensitive if you say the wrong thing

yea all us turbo guys are touchy about the header/exhaust manifold thing. however the goal of 300 bhp is easily attainable with the mods dustbunnie listed. I would suggest modding after you get the engine running well how you like it. This way you can be assured any problems u will need to fix will be from the engine and not from mods u have put on already. just a thought

thanks for all the replys, i dont yet know if i am going to do the mods before or after the swap yet. i just thought it would be easier to get it all done at once while the engine is still out of the car, but the security of getting the engine running right first is nice to. . .

dustbunnie if you read this (or anyone else who read his post) you mention pushing a couple pieces to their limits. the only thing more important to me than performance is longevity. i want my **** to last. please advise as to whether or not those mods would have negative long term effects.
thanks again guys you've been a big help

any mod is pretty much not good for the engine. any power adder is gunna put strain on the engine and decrease longevity.

The thing about adding a bigger turbo is that you need larger injectors. Once you do this mod, it's gonna be tough to get the right air/fuel mixture that is necessary for that type of power. I would just advise that you or someone you know is knowledgable on fuel computer tuning. Other than that, I think everyone else has covered everything. Good Luck man!

for 300bhp i wouldnt get it custom tuned you could easily pick up an safc II or similar fuel controller and eaily tune for the larger injectors with more boost as well

Don't forget

If you are looking to mod up so soon I would get I polished manifold, FMIC, Clutch, BOV larger injectors, complete exhaust 3inch, SAFC II, Boost and EGT gauge, and some rocker stoppers. But if I were you I would focus first on your cooling system, replacing such things as the fan, radiator, possibly water pump, hoses, etc. Just giving you a thought.
