Getting away with swaps.

OK, so I just spent 18 days reading every post in the legalities thread, and now I just want to know how the people who do swap to an SR or RB get away with it. I live in AZ by the way. I just want some ideas, did you get it smogged, did you get it registered somehow?? I have to have an SR. No way around it. So yeah, lets here it you criminals!

Crooked smogger is pretty much the only way, might have to pay a bit more...some states won't even look for it though.

i know that in wacky wisconsin, you dont need to smog your car, and even if cops (or the one cop from my town) did look under your hood, he wouldnt know heads from tails. but that one cop im my town, he would probably ask for a ride, and he is a speed demon. not sure how its handled in az, but in cali, smogging is kinda a pain. another possibility is doing what some people in japan do, they tune their car how they like it, and when they need to get an inspection, they swap everything back. (pain in the butt, but pretty low failure risk, and you dont have to go crooked smogger.)

where I live, you need registration, IM, tags.

Reg and tags, I dont think has anything to do with a motor, so Im all good with that, if there ever ask "it's stock"

For IM I just tell the DMV "it's a RWD car, I just got a new paint job, etc or some stupid excuse got it Garage queen, I dont want a yearly tag, I wasnt a seasonal tag.

It depends where you live though. many people get away with it up here, and 1 guy went to a IM shop and knew the guy there and got a yearly tag good til 08. he has a SR20DET

Yeah that makes sense, I didnt even think about the fact that they don't come out and ispect your car every time you get it registered. Hey I'm only 17, I don't have alot of experience with it. And for the emissions, if you had a tunable EMS, in thoery i guess you could just lean the crap out of your AFR just for the day you have to get it checked right?

Never lean the crap out of the car, it ***s up emissions even worse. There is no way to smog any JDM motor in the US due to high Nox levels. only way is how Cronux said to do it. Swap back to the KA every time.

Dont bother doing that kinda swap in CA anymore, every cop has to go through training on import motors now. On top of that they have to take a test to pass the training, so us CA boys are f*ked.
