hooking up Tachometer

Since i have swapped my redtop into my 240 i have no tach... as expected. I am going to be purchasing an aftermarket tach, but im not sure of a few things. First off should i get a mechanical tach or an electrical one. Second of i am not sure of how to install it, so if anyone could help me out with soem instalation help it would be much apreciated.

Or how could i just hook up the tach in my stock guage cluster??

thanks alot

If you have a car from 89 or 90 you need to get a gauge cluster from a 91-94 twin cam.(ka24de)note:de . It has to do with the voltage or something. putting in a aftermarket tach is pretty simple though, I think It just hooks up to the first coilpack. But I'd need to search more tho find out.
