How do i no if my headgasket is blown?

hey guys whats up mosliky this has been covered but i jsut get my car back n put maybe 726 miles on it and onthe way home from picking up the car from the trans shop because they didnt not put a new slave cylinder in the car when the swap was performed and it blew just right when i stated the car. no i told the guys that my headgasket looked like it was blown wheni got the swap done so ihad him give me a warrenty on it for 5,000 miles i figured that if the head was blown it would blow right away? that is exactly what it did after i picked the car it blew about 20 min fromt he shop and i had to drive the car maybe 1 block. so it was at my house. anyways iw ill post pics soon but jsut wanna no if any sugestions.

do a compression test! If you search or have a haynes manual then you know what the compression should be

Check for chocolate milk looking oil, oil in coolant, or lack of coolant. If it was steaming out the exhaust its VERY IMPORTANT not to let it sit and give the water a chance to RUST THE CYLINDERS. If nothing else take the plugs out and shoot a bunch of Auto tranny fluid in the holes, then turn it over by hand a few times.

tranny fliud huh? I never tried that one. did the same thing with a crapload of WD40 cause it sucks up water, but I will try tranny fluid next time that comes up.
Ryan- thanks for that harness, its in great shape, and thanks a ton extra for including the relays.

yeah you look into the properties of tranny fluid, adhere to all the parts, provide corrosion resistance, and not evaporate like WD-40, and it's the best way to go. Some of our engines sit on the shelf for awhile so they all get a little ATF before they go up. The only side effect is it doesn't burn out as clean as the WD, sometimes you might have to change plugs.

2gs? Damn. HKS gaskets go for about 200 and Cometic for 100 plus about 10hrs at 60 an hour. I would say 1000us at the most including supplies.
