are you talking about the timing chain or just timing an already assembled motor with a timing light?

well when i get my sr20det motor i was gonna take the timing chain and what not off and put brand new parts on it.So yes i was wondering how to time a freshly built motor pretty much. Also do you think i should do this, i know the basic thing to do when you get a swap is water pump all the fluids and when i did honda swaps the timing belt. This motor has about 40k miles on the clock

well its not a must but if u have the $ i would go ahead and do it now, waterpump, plugs, oil/oil filter, and some new belts would all be a good idea...really since it should already be timed correctly you could just take off the old chain and put the new one on as long as you dont move anything, ,ill see if i can find a diagram or something later on for ya
