Car cuts off, from time to time

My car been cutting off, while im driving, or when i'm at a stop.

It doesn't shut down completely, to the point where the lights comes on, on the gauge.

the car just bogs down and when i gas it, it won't move, i can hear the throttle body open up.

After that, i just turn the ignition off and crank it back up. Sometimes it crank right up and sometimes it takes a min to crank it.

What could the problem be guys??? Help me out

I changed the fuel filter, thinkin that i might have a fuel line clogged up.

Could it be a fuel problem, or could it be something else.

Thanks

ya thats what i think, I'm gonna change that eventually. I also read about some other post about the same kind of situation, and they told them to clean out the throttle body.

I might give that a shot.

Thanks for ur info.

You said you changed the fuel filter, be sure its on there correct. Also hows your air filter? You can get all the fuel in the world but with no air your not going anywhere.

I would say check the fuel pump though. My cavalier I had did that when I first got it. it was under warranty and I sent it in and they replaced the starter and batter. I told them before it was the fuel pump. Went to pick it up and it didn't start. I told them its was the fuel pump again. They replaced the altenator. Same thing. They finally replaced the fuel pump and was fine after that.

Thanks guys for your infomation. I found out what was wrong wit it.

Before I cleaned the throttle body and checked the fuel pump

I first checked the spark plugs to see if i was gettin any spark. I didn't get any. So I figured that it was something to do wit the ingition.

So I took, uhhh that thing that u ground wit a red clip and has a long needle with screw driver type handle that has a light. I forgot what that was called. But you know that thing that lights up when check if any wires are gettin power.

Well I first checked the my distributor, and then the plugs, they were gettin power/conection. Then my Ignition coil. Check one of the plugs and it was gettin power/connection. Then I examine the ignition coil. I saw some tape on it. I removed the tape, and realize that it was a plug that was brokein, it was stuck in the plug/clip from the wires. If i pull it off or wiggle it, it cuts off.

So, I'm thinking thats the problem, I dunno yet, I have to wait a coupe of driving days and see if it does it again
