Unhappy I need a new engine

Hey everyone,
last time i posted i had engine trouble, and i got it checked out. it was a blown head gasket. the guy who checked it out said that with 160,000 miles on my engine i would be better off getting a new one. So he said i should go with the same engine that i have now a ka24de, he said that i shouldn't go for any "special" engine like rb20det if it isn't specifically made for my car. I am just asking for any engine that will fit my car. What i am looking for is: an egine with low miles, not a hi cost( i don't have alot of money ), and something in either the bay area, or the sacramento area, i live in vacaville, CA and so i need something close, if anyone has any suggestion, advice, information oon where i can get an engine all are welcomed. thanx.

160,000 miles is not alot at all. My 92 has 158,000 and runs like a clock. But if you wanna get another motor, just get another KA24DE. I wouldn't trust ebay too much. Check the for sale forums. Good luck with the engine

I have a 91 KA24DE that runs perfect with a Hotshot Header, Injen Intake, NGK Iridiums, and Accel Spark Plug wires if you wanna give it a shot...I'm swapping it out for another RB25DET.

Ill answer that for you. He has the KA out of a car that he is installing the RB motor into. He is selling the KA, not the RB. Im not trying to be a dick, just clarifying it for you.

I'm looking at $850...Motor, Tranny, Ecu, Uncut Harness, Hotshot Header (Retails $399), Injen Intake (Retails $190), Iridium Plugs (Retails $60), Accel Plug Wires (Retails $60). The aftermarket parts that I have added within the last two months retail at a lil over $700, so I don't think that $850 is too bad of a price...let me know if you're interested, the engine will be pulled a bit later this week...and 91 KA's have the most aggressive cams of any year.

Dude, speedsleeper, I would definately go for it. That is a great price and with all of those performance mods. Though, I still dont understand why you cant replace the head gasket. Is the head or block cracked or warped?

Talk to him. He would prolly lower to help you out. I would PM him or e-mail him. But at least put a headgasket if possible and see if that cures it.

yesh, i already talked to him on the phone. If the price was lower than most likely my dad would buy it no problem. all i need is the engine i don't need anything else i.e tranny, aftermarket parts. though i would really like that hotshot header it comes with.

Well, keep tryin dude. If it were me, I would just replace the head gasket and go with that till I got the cash saved for a new engine. But do what you can do

yeah, i notice that u r only 2 years older than me, where do you get all your money for things? I heard that getting the head replaced costs way to much, and it would just be beter off getting a diff. engine. I really do want this engine that night has, but if i can't get that one i am really thinking about a ca18det. as i have said many times before, i am just 15 and if i ever did try to get the swap then i would have to go through my dad and my dad always wants to do things the right way, so it kinda sux. I might just have to wait till ima lil older, but by the time i am like 18+ i wanna have something like a rb engine in my 240.
