Hi everybody, great forum, as I was searching for some of my answers I noticed that there is a lot of knowledge here and tons of helpful information. Glad to be here I have a 71' Datsun 510 that is in the works, and I've decided on a single cam KA from the 89-90 240, but now a few people are telling me to just go with the dohc DE... I'm in a slight bind

I wont flood you guys out with all my questions (I still have more searching to do lol) but is the DE really worth it? I know its slightly stronger but besides that I dont really know what the advantage would be. About how much more do they run for and what year should I look at when purchasing?
Also, my understanding is that the ka24E's tranny is the same/if not bolts up to the DE. Am I correct?

Any help is much appreciated. If there has already been a similar write up, just point me in the right direction. Thank you all very much.

Thanks, I can come up on a good tranny and blown motor for 100 bucks, but I just want the tranny... Anybody know what I should offer?

 

take the whole thing.

tear apart the KA and learn a new engine to build.

Never hurts to have spare parts.
