need to decide which sr to go with

i was wondering how hard it would be to swap into a 1989 240sx the s14 sr20?? will you have to change alot more?? i have no clue everyone i know has a s13 swap in an s13. and doesn't the s14 have variable valve timing that is what i heard? and are the s13 and s14 sr parts interchangeable?? thanx

The only thing that will be different is the wiring, it will be a little tougher because of the VVT. Other then that, i think its basically the same as the S13 SR. And some parts are interchangable, ill try and get a list later on, the super bowl is on:p

yeah thanx i posted it then it came on and is the VVT kinda like vtec???

tegg_gsr 02-01-2004 05:23 PM

i think so

so the s14 sr20 would prob be the best sr to go with out of the two

sorry for thread stealing but is'nt the rb25det just as easy to swap in as the s14 and cheaper?

-HyJynX- 02-02-2004 12:23 AM

No, the RB25 is more expensive. You need to do more modifications in order to fit correctly.

okay since we got on this subject Hyjnx you were doin a rb20det swap and stopped why??? the reason i was thinking the s14 sr20 was it had more power than a s13 and bolted right in i was going to go with the rb20 since i found a great deal on a front clip but i thought that instalation was goin to cost me an arm and a leg

-HyJynX- 02-02-2004 10:50 AM

Installation is not ganna cost you an arm and a leg for the RB20. It should be around the same price. The wiring is much easier then the S14 SR, and the only large mod to do is swap cross-members with the R32 one. Do a little shaving on the sway bar(Or get adjustable sways), a little on the downpipe/turbo elbow and a little on the hood(not visible from the outside) and your set. Its a lot easier then it sounds. I stopped on my swap because my funds ran out, and didnt have enough time to finish it. I picked the wrong time to do it.

for real i think i am just going to go with what i wanted in the first place and plus i found a really good deal on a front clip rb20 here i come

-HyJynX- 02-02-2004 11:04 AM

For the price, i think its gatta be the best bang for the buck for a 240sx :thumb:

Baloo 02-02-2004 11:05 AM

okay i know this is a way off sub but do you know wher i can get a stroker kit for it?? i have read that they have been strocked to 2.4 but i have not found one

-HyJynX- 02-02-2004 11:16 AM

:dunno: you got me. Maybe rb20det.com has some info, or meggala.com

Baloo 02-02-2004 11:18 AM
