weird groves on head... (sr20det)

i'm not sure what this part is called... the cam shaft rests in these.. this is the bottom peice (top peice and cam is removed)

BG info: had to remove head due to valves in #1 and #3 going to **** (got the car like that)


there are only grooves on the intake side and on the 3rd there are 2. i was wondering what caused this and if the head was ok. It doesnt seem like they would hurt anything, but I could be wrong... here are some pics..

Those look like lubrication holes.
