RB25DET Turbo Tech.

I am getting a RB25DET and I am wanting to buy the Garrett T28 Turbo. The T28 turbo is a T25 turbo housing with a 16g turbine. I read it is good for up to 380hp at 21lbs. of boost. I was just wanting to know if it would be safe to run 21lbs. of boost on a skyline engine, without blowing a head gasket or damaging the internals. I heard that the RB25DET engine has a lot of potential and it supposively can support up to 450hp on stock internals. I would only run 21lbs. on the race weekends and maybe 10-15lbs. on daily driving.

the rb25det has a t3 flange so you would have to build a custom manifold.

I do believe you could send the stock turbo (t-25 right) and have it rebuilt and ported into the FP Big T28.

THE STOCK RB25 TURBO IS A T3 FLANGED T28 WITH PLASTIC OR CERAMIC WHEELS. THESE CAN BE UPGRADED AND FLOWED OUT FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE IF NEED BE BUT A TURBO UPGRADE WOULD BE A BETTER OPTION.

NO PROB.... THE RB20DET HAS A T3 FLANGED T25.

not to thread jack or anything but if u had a rb20 could u just upgrade to the rb25 turbo, since they both have a t3 flange?

Yes, but the water and oil lines are different, These will need to be custom. The rb25det turbo is significantly weaker than the rb20det turbo but produces more power with less boost.
