i own a 95 240 and ive been researching the different motors i could swap in. im interested in the sr20det red and black top. i see that theres no much difference between them except the black top has a little more HP and torq. and that the red top usualy have a little more mileage. should i just swap in the red top or go with the black top (s14) motor since i have a 95?

u do realize that there are TWO versions of the S13 SR20DET (a redtop AND a blacktop and no, they don't have different power ratings)? and the S14 SR is just that-- the S14 SR. there is only one version, so there's no blacktop/bluetop/plaidtop.

what it'll basically come down to is this:

- price
- mileage
- bells and whistles (S14 VVT and whatnot)

I would say go with the S14 SR20. The S13 into an S14 would require a little more wiring work. But like Sil_40 Mayhem said, do a search and then come to your decision
