SR20 cooling question

I have seen quite a few S13's with an SR swap that have the original shroud removed and still running the O.E. fan. Is this feasible? I have the been wanting to remove mine but, I am a litlle skeptical as to whether or not it is safe. I do have a Nismo T-stat in mine but it is stock in all other ways. Any input from people that have done this is appreciated.

some people do take out the shroud but you wont cool as good at idle might even over heat in traffic on a hot day.

so i wouldnt take it off but personally i never had mechanical fan i always pulled them as soon as i got the car.

Most people go for the 1993-1997 round body Altima duece fans.

Get a shroud for it, and the OEM fan should be fine. I removed mine because I don't like the way it looks. Reality is, the OEM fan may cool better than my electrical fan setup.

yea this is true. My Ka runs fine with my electric setup.. however the sr's seem to have issues. i see most guys running both mechanical and electrical fans.

cooling is very very important and will keep you on the track longer

Ducts
oil/trans coolers
radiators
proper fluids
racing thermostat
etc

all plays into having a nice cool day.
