sr20 de v. det

i was wondering if it would be easier to just get a sr20de from a sentra or something and then turbo it or to just get a det from japan.

well obviously the one from japan would swap in easily, but isn't taking the usdm sr20de legal....or more legal at least?

ok, well i guess my question was if i could take the sr20de from a sentra or a g20 or someting and put it in my 240 and just use my transmission because it would be a domestic engine, just from a different car.

The SR20, is known as the SR20DE, DET, whatever. If you look at the serial # stamping they are all just SR20. The "SR20" is availiable in the G20, 200SX, and SE-R. Although the fwd SR doesn't work, the JDM engine shouldn't be getting anyone in trouble even in Cali.

i was told that any fwd engine (sr or ka) wont work since some of the engine mount points on the block are different. plus you would need to swap out the intake and exhaust manifolds.

if legalities are a concern, just build up your ka. wouldnt a dual cam KA make more power than a NA SR?

Wow okay

1.) Anything will fit. All it costs is MONEY.

2.) Thats a retarded question, another reason to search.

3.)The JDM SR is WAY illegal in cali.

Fool's you all are except a few of you.

uhh... the nissan silvia q's have the sr20de... its rated at 160hp for the s13s... and i believe 180 or so for the s14s. i emailed srswap.com on how to do the sr20de swap into a 92 chassis, and all they said was, use the kade ecu, harness, maf, ignitor.

not sure if this is true or not but thats all the information i got about that swap.

No way is the power output right. It has less displacement than a KA and pushing more power. That doesn't seem right. I also believe the NA SR swaps are illegal. Plus, he was talking about getting a Sentra's SR20, not a JDM RWD SR20.
