sr20 swap question

i am in the process of swaping a s13 redtop into my s14, and i was curious what all NEEDS to be replaced at the time of the swap and what you guys suggest i replace. everyone has told me at a bare minimum i need a new fuel pump. do i need to get a new radiator or electric fans or maf or downpipe or anything else? i dont plan on bumping the boost up too much right away. any recomendations are appreicated. also, where do you guys have your boost gauge or any guages mounted in your s14? i dont really wanna put it on the pillar becuase i think the stick-on pod looks sloppy. thanks.

You don't need anything, really. Stock pump is fine at stock boost. Stock radiator is fine for stock motor and you'll only really need a fan if you use the KA radiator.

exactly what he said.. i put my boost gauge were my 12v cigarette lighter was.
i bought a lot of upgraded parts when i did my swap that way i didnt have to do them later. anything that would be hard to install on the motor when its in the car might be a good idea to replace now.

If you're going to run stock, then you don't need anything. But make sure that the motor come with everything to install, els. Most important part is a new clutch, That is what you need, cause you don't want to change it when the motor is in. IT A PAIN.

hey guys....i'm 18 years old and i have a small drive way and a garage

now i'm not a expert mechanic but i'm not stupid niether. maybe like an ametuer. Everything gone wrong with my car i've fixed....timing chain...exhaust....water pump

i have basic tools...following raine's garage guides..

i was wondering if i could do the swap on my own and maybe a few buddies. would it be too much of a difficult task to do? or could i do it. how about the wiring? how simple or hard is it and the whole swapping

i wouldnt reccoemned it because if you run into a problem then you are in a load of trouble. if you can use a garage or something like that.
i started my swap saying im only going to put in the motor and a new clutch, then it turned out to be a 5 month swap with more add-ons then any car around me has ever seen. now i have $9k invested into my 240
OOPS!!

I did the swap myself. Wasn't hard at all. Took a couple weekends, cause I was working on another 240sx at the same time. The only parts I installed on it at the time was a downpipe, fan, and air filter. Been running the clutch that came with it for just about 2 years now. But I was careful and bought a new clutch anyway, just been sitting in my closet though.

remember when changing from a ka to an sr you'll need to change the fuel pump, heater hoses, and power steering lines assuming you still want power steering plus if you want to change the j pipe and clutch do it before you drop the motor in also if you have a 240 89-91 you'll need to have the driveshaft shortin at the half shaft, and havwe the wiring harness lengthin
as for recommend stuff
fmic
larger oil pan
flex lite dual fans
nismo slave clinder
koyo rad (over the stock USDM one)
tie rods (if you plan on drifting)
coilovers (suggested)
nismo motor/tranny motors
also reminder if you're not going with a slim line battery you're going to have to relocate it to the trunk
anyway have fun

also when to install a red top into a s14 you're going to notice that the temp gauge is going to very high (this is normal) unless you wasnt to chang e the temp sending unit to an OBD1
