sr20det ( head tourqe question) ( new studs an new headgasket)

sr20det ( head tourqe question) ( new studs an new headgasket)

i have took my sr20det head off, i have a new head gasket an new arp head studs i had to change the front timeing chain cover ( How much should i tourqe the head studs to?)

any other information would be usesful if need

there's a lot of controversy with that... i think it was enjuku that had an article or something saying to torque less than factory specs, others say to torque them to the factory specs... start doing research

Well despite them being ARP bolts you should still use the same basis as what the factory suggest. Taking in account that you have upgraded the headgasket to a larger size than the factory you don't want to torque it as hard as the factory but it should be close. Use the factory spec as a basis and go from there.

No ARP TELLS YOU WHAT TORQUE a sheet comes with the studs.

Factory is only recommended for factory head studs. The strech on the bolts are different.

I would go a little more than factory to ensure a good seal. Did you lube up the studs and make sure that its not mostly friction torque your getting?

The strech is very minimal "I " torqued my Tomei head bolts down on 1.2mm headgasket 8.5kg which is what was suggested that is what I used. I bet if someone posted up the ARP torque specs up they would not be far off. I have built over 20 SR's RB's there is not much variance from stock specs most of the time.
