the gas mileage on small v8's aint that bad.ever some newer v6's get the same gas mileage as small v8's when i was 16 i had a 1965 ford galaxy 4 door with a 289(i still got 1 but with a 390).it got 27-28 miles per gallon on the highway.and the weight on that car is WAY more the any mustang.so in a 2800lb car u should get a pretty good gas mileage.IMO.

USCC is a biased contest. to even use that as a standard is a bad idea.

and a 5.0 is no bigger than a ka

btw:ill all for putting a v8 in a 240sx.forget the ppl that say "if u wanted a v8 buy a camaro or a mustang"i bought my 240 cause it is a good platform. light weight,IRS,4 wheel disc,it looks good and they are cheap. in the Technical Discussions part of this forum engine swaps has the most posts then any other.if nissan would have gave us the sr20det in them im sure that # would be lower. nissan just throwed a motor they already had in there.its a good motor dont get me wrong.but from a 'bang for buck' point of veiw a small v8 would be hard to beat.IMO. dunno know about any1 else but nissan didnt give me my car and they sure aint sponsoring me so i say stick whatever u can in the engine bay to make it do whatever u want.

as for myself.i going ka-t,302 or 289.still doing reseach.

sry for rant

Dont be tacky now, when you roll up next to that 400 HP RB with your v8 powered 240 and you get your *** handed to you cause you didnt build the motor right! JK good luck!

Haha, anyone can drive straight. I could take my 11 yr old cousin to the drag strip and tell to hit the throttle, press the clutch, move the little stick, release the clutch, and hit the gas again, and make sure the honda is behind him when he finishes. A stock KA would probably run faster lap times not to mention get more sideways than your mulletmobile

Just giving you a hard time, have at it Haus

I think there is a serious issue here that nobody has touched on yet.

Why do people care so much about what other people think about the motor they are about to put into their OWN car????????????????????????????????

ex:
I own a car, I buy engine, feel like putting it in my OWN car and driving it.
Why isnt that the end of it? Who cares where the motor came from, I think we all need to stop being so **** and hung up on some imaginary brand loyalty. Lets face it, if any of us is in the market for a car in the next 5 years and they drive something they really like, they will buy it, wether its a buick or a honda.
This thread is starting to sound like a bunch of pig-headed, ignorant harley owners that say they have the only "real" bikes on the road. RB motors were never in a 240 either, it may be the same OEM, but still was never put in that car.

AND, as for people making fun of muscle cars... I think you should all be taken out back and have a little respect smacked into you. (hold on.....before you start typing your rant in reply)
This is why;
If it wasnt for those "mulletmobiles" NONE of us, and I mean not a single one of us, would be sitting here having the parts and cars and media and even car/pop-culture and youth-based automotive scene that we have.
Those original-late model camaro, firebird, and mustang were (and still are) the original and all time best "BANG for the BUCK" cars.....EVER.
If you dont believe me you will have to change my mind and the mind of the major auto manufacturers, and the entire auto media as well, because it has been said many times that an F-body GM (camaro/firechicken) is the best performance/cost value that will ever exsist in any of our lifetimes.

So if your opinion is that you would rather stick a nissan motor in it because things are easier or maybe even more familiar to you that way, fine, that is perfectly logical and understandable.
If you start poking fun at the person that is doing what they want to do, trying to act like you are some kind of purist, ........C'mon.
I dont know about anyone else but I think I would feel lower as a person.

debates are welcomed,
flames are expected.

I'm not going to try and persuade you, but they had skylines, corolla's, and celica's in the late 60's and early 70's. I would love to have a KPGC10. Everyone has been trying to go faster ever since the first mode of transportation was built. Horse and buggy: one guy wanted to go faster so he strapped a second horse to his buggy. Muscle cars was just another generation of gasoline blooded, gear heads in America.

I see what you saying and you are 100% correct, I meant it more for the reason, that was the first time cars where desgned, built, and marketed for purchase and use and customization buy the youth market. cars before that were only marketed to the portion of the public that had the money to buy them, hence the convertibles of the late 20's and early 30's. The ponycars/musclecars was the first time the OEMs said "wow, younger people need a car that they can get excited about and we will sell cars and accesories out the A$$!!!!"

Right. I agree, but if America was able to get stuff from Japan back then, do you think the car culture would be different? (i'm just curious about your opinion) I just wish that Japan would of given of some of the sweet machines back in the day. Have you see a 1971 GT-R... Freakin HOT!!! I want to get my hands on one.
