DO NOT BUY FROM JDM (Japanese Domestic Motor) INC IN SAINT-LEONARD, QUEBEC, CANADA!!!

July of 2005 my boyfriend purchased a RB25DET motor and transmission, including the wiring harness and ECU for his 1995 240sx, from them for $2250 shipped. Great deal you may say, as did he. Boy was he wrong. Let me tell you the story and why you shouldnt buy from them!

Hes a working man, works close to 10 hours a day, like most people out there. In his spare time he would work on his car. For the past 5 months he has been prepping the motor and trans to be put into the car. Along with this prep work, he had to replace a broken exhaust manifold stud that was either over tightened or broken during shipping. Also he had to replace the oil pan due to it being dented and scratched. He had to wait on parts from McKinney Motor sports, JDM Inc. themselves (since they didnt send the wiring harness with the motor like they said they would), Greddy, and Exedy. This last weekend he went to put the motor and trans in. Everything went well until he went to bolt on the trans mount. For some reason it wouldnt line up. He called McKinney Motor sports who then told him to look at two different things, the shift plate and the bell housing. If the shift plate is flat on top then its a RB20 transmission, if it is slanted down towards the rear of the car then it is a RB25 transmission. Lo and behold, JDM Inc sent him an RB20 transmission which is almost the same as what came on the car stock, for those that do not know.

The next day I called JDM Inc. (514-321-4449) to tell them that they shipped the wrong trans. I get the manager, and he is rude to start with. He interrupted me when I was trying to talk and wouldnt let me finish. He told me there is nothing that he could do since it was purchased in July and their stuff only carries a one month warranty. I told him it wasnt a warranty issue since nothing broke. He then says to me Why didnt the motor get put in the car after he received it? After I went on a rant about all the stuff he was waiting for, the guy has the nerve to say to me, How do I know you are telling the truth? I lost it. All we want to do is return the wrong trans for the right one and they werent willing to do that. Finally I told him that his customer service was ****ty and basically, that they sucked. The manager told me to call back the next day to talk to the owner. So I did. The owner, named Joe, told me that there are two different types of trans for the RB25 motor. What my boyfriend has been told by others in the import aftermarket scene is that there is only one for that motor, and its the one that he didnt receive. I spoke with the manager for about 10-15 minutes and didnt get anywhere because he too, was rude and would interrupt and not let me finish what I had to say. Finally I was fed up and said, Fine, if we find out this trans is wrong, I will have his lawyer contact you. I was then told that that was unnecessary and that he didnt run a shady business. He also told me that if he wanted, my boyfriend could return the motor for a full refund; as long as it was back together they way it was sent. I told Joe that it took 3-4 weeks to get all the cut wires and crap off the motor, why would he want to put it all back on when all he wanted was the transmission. Joe told me thats how it would have to be done. I told him that Britt (my boyfriend) would contact him if he had anymore questions and then a lawyer may contact him, since what he is doing could be considered fraud

Later in the day my boyfriend called Joe at JDM Inc and didnt get anywhere with him either. Joe told him that he would e-mail him some info on the two types of transmissions for the RB25 motor tomorrow (today). It is now 2:40pm as I am writing this letter and I havent seen any info on the transmissions. He told him that if this matter is not resolved he was going to post (what I am doing right now) about the customer service and the fact that he just got screwed big time by these people that say they know more about this motor then McKinney or anyone out there. since they are a distributor and specialists.

In talking to other people out there, Britt has found out that there is only one transmission, not two like Joe at JDM Inc, has said. So know he is out of a trans, time and money and has to search for the right one.

PLEASE PLEASE save yourselves the time and headaches that this has given to my boyfriend. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from these guys. They screwed him, how many more people are they going to screw over like this?

Thanks for reading!

An update: Britts dad (ex-FBI) is working with the FBI who is working with the Canadian Mounties on Canadian business owners committing fraud to US buyers. Hopefully this matter gets taken care of. Thanks again.

There are 2 different kinds of trans missions for the RB25, BUT the R33 RB25DET has only one trans. The R32 Rb25DE has the same trans as the RB20...

Sucks you got rooked though, I hate that crap!

Once he gets the right tranny he'll love those mounts, they fit great.

Threatening with the lawyer was possibly the best thing you did. I'd be persistent with that and let them know that there is only one type of RB25deT transmission and you know that it's worth almost $1000.00 after shipping and that you want the tranny you paid for. Tell him it's not your fault they screwed up and that he needs to fix it because he made a mistake.

I don't see what the big deal is if he sent the wrong one he should have no problem sending the right one. My guess is they'll claim to have never specified what tranny came with it, and what a great deal you got in the first place (which is irrelevant any how).

I hope all goes well though, good luck.

thanks for the advice... but it sounds like some of that was your fault... why didnt you call them asap when you didnt get the harness? if its something they promised, then it has to be there. oil pans come dented all the time, hit it with a hammer, you didnt really need to buy a new one.

Sorry to hear that you got screwed... to many shady businesses selling these days. Hopefully you can get things sorted out

We did call about the harness, I called twice and he called like once a week. The guy ended up ordering one from Mckinney since the one that came from the motor was "crap" as the guy from JDM put it. That was no big deal waiting on that, not like the wiring harness has to go on the motor right away unlike the other parts he was waiting for, intake manifold, cluth & flywheel, etc. As for the oil pan, well, my boyfriends just ****, lol

I dont recommend buying any motor from Canada as most of them run their shop for a short period of time. Once their rep goes bad they close the doors and run a new shop under a diff name.

There are not two types of manual for the RB25 there is as follows

RB25DET comes with 5sp manual and or an automatic
RB25de Comes with a upgraded RB20style Mission (Synchros are different) or RB25 automatic
R32 did come with a rb25 but it is the same as the RB25DE mission,

They did get screwed because the mission would have worked however if you would have try to put any power into it it woul dhave blown. I had the RB25det mission adapated to my 450hp silvia but it also kept blowing or breaking shafts, I went PAR.

Keep on thier butts get your Mission!!!!!
