what's with all the wanking over the SR20 engine? Considering S13, a 91 for the purposes of this, with a manual. Automaic would be a waste.

Looking online for specs and prices I see this. Prices may vary from place to place but these seem to be about the norm.

So SR20 has stock, in S13 form, 202/188 HP/Torque for $2750. Price is over 3,000 for a blacktop.

RB20 has 220/194 HP/Torque for $2295. Only bad thing I have heard about the RB series is they are slightly heavier, which wouldn't be a good thing in a rear wheel drive vehicle, but about the SR20 justifies the higher price? Feel free to school me.

Which means the "Half Cut" comes with everything you need just about, adn the motorset is just the motor?

Its all bout the hype bro, The SR has totally been over hyped and everyone thinks its the ish...and it aint even close to it. It does have some potential, but not even close to the RB series motors. Half cut comes with just about everything, and motorset comes with the motor/tranny and usually ecu and wiring.

the SR's are cool but you can turbo a KA and put out more horsepower with stock internals at 5psi than the SR at 8psi.
My KA has 45k miles on it and in 3 months im gonna turbo it... oh i cannot wait.

I will agree its allot of hype but the Sr is a proven performance engine. Its been proven time and time again on the street or track. I went RB because yes it does have a little more potentail and will have more torque and some other of my own reasons. However if I had not found out that the RB could go in the 240 when I did I would have used the SR. I know the Ka puts down some good numbers but what turbo KA does anyone know of that has been proven reliable in a profesional race series. I know of none I have just seen dyno numbers for proof. So when the KA has a history in the Pro drift, GT series or any other profesional series and proven performance reliable I may consider the KA. So I guess what I am getting at when it comes to my money and a peformance engine I will stick with what I can see is proven. Like I said me, everyone else will have there own opinions. So build what you want and who cares what the others think.

Indeed... just like everything else, when it's hot people want it and price go up. A few months back it was possible to find sr20 for less than $2000 half cut with next to no miles on them.. now you're lucky to get the engine for $2500 with close to 40k on them. That's always how it is. If I was a business major Id say find the hottest thing and start making some $$ but I'm not. So just go with what you feel can fit your budget.

SrS are good as they are as close to a direct fit as you can find. Rbs do fit, but there is little **** that gets in the way, so some custom mods are needed. After that it's all you. Search for RB swap in the forums if you're interested. Otherwise look for SRs as there is an unlimited amount of information, and lots of peeps to talk to if you need help Good Luck.

For the RB20 the modifications are minimal, i will say it is a lil more time consuming than the SR swap but its cheaper and puts out more power. The RB25 does require more modifications...but i wont get into that stuff.

Okay thanks. I don't even have the car yet, waiting for one with a good body, ****ers around here would wreck their scooters if they could go fast enough, so I got time to do some more research. Thanks for the input, I'll lurk some more on the forums and look through the older posts til I can get my car.

If you're gonna do an RB swap, you better be a damn good mechanic. I believe that a custom drive shaft is needed for an RB. You better get a front clip if you want it to work. Not to mention parts are no t widely available on an RB. You can make an SR20 go plenty fast with a few mods. I found the SR to be a better overall value, if you werent on a budget, you'd be searching the Ferrari forums right? If u got a few extra bucks, get a turbo upgrade and you'll beat 90% of the cars on the street.

RB20s are cheaper then the SR...more HP, and dont require any major mods at all. It would be best to go with a front clip. A couple mods on a RB20 and you will see pleanty of power! Now on the other hand RB25s do require more mods...and costs a pretty penny.

I like sr because it BELONGS in my car. it came from the same chassis. I trust it a little more that way. i already have a fast car that is not reliable. i don't need another one
