Electrical Issues

My problem is that when it is hot outside, or my car is hot, or when everything inside and out is "hot" my electronic speedometer works and lights up and the dashlights work and everything. But, when it gets cool, or cold (inside and out) the speedometer stops working. It turns off and i get, nada, zip, ziltch, nothing. And when that doesn't work, the cruise doesn't work and neither does my odometer (so i'm guessing i have a lot more miles than just 137,340). However, my rpm guage and everything else works (like the lights that alert you to your brights being on and a car door open). I've installed some lights that plug into my cigarett lighter, so i can see my rpm's at night and compared my speed-to-rpm when it does work so i know how fast i'm going when it is not working. But it's really annoying, and i want it to work and it should work. So i don't know, I think it's an old cracked wire but i wanted to see what i could do on my own before taking it in to the mechanics. Anybody have an idea???

Check your fuses? Pull the cluster out and check to see if anything is loose/frayed, etc.
